I don't even know where to start with this amazing hotel!
The outside of the building definitely shows its age, but it's historic from 1927! Many old stars lived here!! The character in this building is absolutely breathtaking!
The courtyard is beautiful, the walk into the hotel reminds me of something from a movie!
The inside of the lobby is like taking a trip back in time! Old but new historic furniture! Chandelier! Checkered floors makes you feel like you're back in 1920s!! Absolutely stunning!
The staff!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! We dealt with the front desk guy named Christopher. Wonderful man! Full of smiles and personality! He spoke with our kids and remembered their names! Was so helpful as well! The ambassador of the hotel is Tim! He is super welcoming, gives you quick history of hotel and what famous people have lived here in the past. He did some extra special things for our family and went above and beyond! He also remembered our kids names! We required help from maintenance for something minor and the guy was there in less 15 mins!! He was also super friendly!
The room!! Took our breath away. The exposed brick is absolutely breath taking! The old vanity ... Stunning, the checkered black and white kitchen has so much character in itself, stainless appliances!! Wood flooring, you have to see this room to appreciate the charm and character is offers! Bed is soooo comfy!!
Location is perfect you are 5 min walk if that from Hollywood Blvd! If you're going to universal studios it's approx 9 mins.
My ONLY complaint is the parking is not necessarily free. Its street parking IF AVAIL but even then you need to move your car at certain times. However there is a parking garage 500feet from the entrance of hotel. That's what we have used. It cost.
Things you should know, yes the windows are thin.. you can hear everything...but I was here during weekend and it was very quiet! Had no issues sleeping. My children Slept well too!
My suggestions for the staff are
Supply a cookie sheet and pizza pan and pizza cutter
Supply pot holders
Supply Tupperware or mixing bowls of different sizes
Dish towels
Supply spatula, pasta serving spoon, ladel.
I recommend the items as things that would improve guest experience especially those who will be utelizing the kitchen!! These are items I wished were avail.
My final comment!! All in all this hotel was amazing the expierence we had was great! I highly highly recommend this hotel. It's definitely safe, family appropriate, and Charming. This hotel and it's staff exceeded my expectations! I will definitely be coming back! Oh ya!! They offer continental breakfast too!!!
I was not paid for this review. This is my honest personal review. For some video footage of our experience here at this hotel visit our YouTube channel "Life With The Ford's. " Universal trip day 1"

Read moreIF YOU WANT A FAIR REVIEW, THIS MAY HELP. This is a decent place to stay but you get what you pay for. We stayed three nights there. One before and two after a cruise we took. The first night was great. Got a room with a full kitchen and all the amenities. Walls and ceilings are paper thin and you can hear everything around you. Bring ear plugs. But cute room, comfortable bed. Good night.
When we came back, we stayed two more nights. However, even though we paid the same price, it wasn't as good this time. No full kitchen, just a kitchenette. We wanted to crash and watch some TV. Nice new TV but no remote. They finally scrounged one up after a while. I turned it on and no cable channels. Had to connect the tv to the internet on my own and then use my own Netflix account to watch something. I asked about it and the woman at the desk didn't really know what was going on. Said, "I think you can connect to YouTube and stuff."
Additionally, the cold water on bath faucet didn't work, the lock on the door to the room was turned off and there was a bunch of dirt and lint covering the exhaust fan cover. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a couple years. Also, no hairdryer in this room, unlike the last. We communicated all of this to the staff. They got the room locked and after a while found a hairdryer but didn't address anything else.
Big picture this is appears to be an apartment complex that was recently purchased by a property management group and they are slowly driving the tenants out and remodeling and renting the rooms out as they go. They'll probably remodel the entire place once all the tenants are gone and you'll be paying 2-3x more for a room here. I had one of the tenants come up to me and ask me to give it a bad review because they elliminated the laundry facilities and they have to go off site to wash their clothes.
However, you're paying only slightly more then motel 6 and getting a much cuter room, combfortable bed and maybe a nice kitchen with it. There just doesn't seem to be consistency between rooms while paying the same price. This is a VERY old building that, while the rooms are cute, the rest of the building hasn't been maintained well over the years. Walls are paper thin. Stairs are crooked. Staff is kind and trying to be helpful. I would stay there again for the price. You are right off Hollywood Blvd within walking distance...
Read moreI booked this hotel against the many mixed reviews that it has, hoping that maybe I'd give it a chance. This will be an unbiased tell it how it is review. I will give details on the areas that were great prior to booking. The hotel itself isn't but there is much needed attention to things that are being overlooked. When you charge a person for items such as TV and cable I expect these things to be functioning. There were two TVs of which neither had access to anything other than a blank screen. There was only 1 remote control that did not work. The beds and sofa felt a bit itchy. The entire family made a comment to me about this in separate conversation. The sink in the bathroom was not functioning properly and it overflowed with gunk and what I can only assume is unsanitary waste from the pipes. The entire bathroom was flooded. Water everywhere...and we had to use it like that throughout our stay. They didnt offer to change our room and said they were booked eventhough if you check online there was vacancy. I immediately advised the front desk who said they would get someone out. No one came. The next day, very early a handy man knocked on the door but we had to refused entry at that moment as no one was awake. There is no parking designated to the hotel and if you aren't lucky to find a parking on the street which has restrictions to days and hours you will forced to stay in the garage that's next door. This garage charges every entry/exit and its 12 for the day with no re-entry. If you go passed 6am its 2 dollars every 15 minutes with a cap at 16. There some good stuff which is basically its location. Very close to the Hollywood walk of fame. The good thing is that its pet friendly with no charge. The staff are nice and all but you can tell higher management has no policies in place for follow up for any grievances. This is highly unprofessional. I have yet to get a call from them regarding the non functioning issues that occurred during my stay. This is definitely not a place to book if you have kids. It's a...
