After a long day of exploring North Hollywood, hopping on and off buses and taking in the sights, we decided to head over to Bollywood Grill for a late-night bite of Indian cuisine. The restaurant itself was quiet when we arrived, which could have been due to the late hour, well past regular dinner time. We were warmly welcomed by a young gentleman who immediately showed us to our table.
The menu had a good range of traditional Indian dishes, which made it tough to decide! Ultimately, we ordered lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, and naan. My wife wasn’t particularly hungry at the time, so it was mostly me enjoying the meal. The food arrived quickly, which we appreciated given how tired we were from the day's adventures.
Starting with the lamb biryani, I found it flavorful and well-cooked, though there were more sliced onions than I’m used to seeing in biryani dishes. The flavor was still pleasant, but it did add a unique twist. The chicken tikka masala was where we noticed a difference. Having tried tikka masala in various Indian restaurants around the world, we were a bit surprised to find it tasted more like butter chicken. If it had been listed as butter chicken, I would have found it very satisfying, but as a tikka masala, it missed that traditional balance of spices we’re accustomed to. Nonetheless, it was rich, creamy, and enjoyable in its own way, just not quite what we were expecting.
The naan was fresh, soft, and perfect for scooping up the rich sauce of the chicken dish. Overall, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and the restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, with subtle decor that suited the theme.
The prices felt reasonable, especially for a spot located right in the middle of North Hollywood near the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It’s a convenient and cozy place to refuel after exploring the area. In summary, Bollywood Grill offered a pleasant dining experience with friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food, though with a few unexpected flavor twists for those familiar with traditional...
Read moreI had high expectations for this restaurant based on the reviews, but my experience was disappointing. I ordered a to-go box through TooGoodToGo, which included naan, rice, and bland chicken. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking, and the food was ice-cold—clearly taken straight from the refrigerator and poorly reheated in a microwave. Being served a freezing cold meal, combined with subpar service, made for a very underwhelming experience. —- My response to the owner’s reply (2/18/2025): I get that TooGoodToGo offers leftover food, but that doesn’t mean it should be served ice-cold with lousy service. Reducing waste is not an excuse for neglecting food safety—properly reheating meals could help prevent customers from getting food poisoning from your restaurant. You’d think a restaurant owner would grasp that basic concept.
Instead of throwing a tantrum and arguing with every negative review on your Google listing like it’s a personal attack (seriously, you should be embarrassed), maybe channel that energy into improving your food quality, training your staff, and learning how to take criticism like a professional. Just a little food for thought.
Update (2/19/2025): You say my review is "irrelevant," yet here you are responding and arguing with another negative review—lol. You, your hurt feelings, and your bland, cold food have a blessed night!
Update (2/19/2025): I'm a loser? I'm going to hold your hand—with a paper towel in between—when I say this: I'm not the restaurant owner arguing with a stranger on the internet over a negative review—that's you, pookie! Lol. I can tell your restaurant must be dead and empty with no customers if you have nothing better to do than argue with people. Since I'm feeling generous, I'll keep you...

My recent visit to Bollywood Grill was nothing short of a disaster, leaving me deeply disappointed and concerned as they misbehaved with my elderly parents . From the moment we walked in, the experience was marred by rude staff, poor service, and subpar food. Upon arrival, the host seemed disinterested and barely acknowledged our presence. Upon calling the behaviour was downright filthy.
A The real shock came when my parents enquired about the dish and the owner rudely responded them twice. Basic requests, such as for water refills or menu explanations, were met with eye-rolls and terse responses. The serving staff's attitude seemed to reflect a lack of training and basic customer service etiquette that was actually stemming from the owner itself
As for the food, it was a major letdown. The dishes were poorly executed, lacking flavor and freshness. Upon specially requesting about the chai the owner misbehaved with my mother upon her request and taste of everything was bland.
The final straw was the manager's response to our complaints. Rather than addressing our concerns professionally, he was defensive and unapologetic..This attitude extended to the entire staff, creating an environment where customers felt unwelcome and disrespected.
In summary, Bollywood Grill failed on multiple fronts: poor food quality, unprofessional staff, and a complete lack of regard for customer service, especially towards elderly patrons. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an enjoyable dining experience. There are far better options available that treat their customers with the respect and courtesy...
