We saw Sleep Token here in 2025 for the last date of their tour, and I am not one that is usually quick to dramatic discourse but I may never go to a show here again.

For a while we were not so sure we would even be let into the venue. After waiting in a massive line for an hour we were then told that our valid resale tickets were not accepted and that we would have to purchase new tickets. This happened to thousands of people, many of whom got turned away long before us and ended up just leaving entirely and not seeing the show even though they had paid for tickets. We bought our tickets from TickPick and the venue was saying any ticket sold by StubHub, TickPick, or any other ticketing platform besides AXS directly were invalid. A huge portion of the tickets for the show were resale tickets since bots buy up everything at the time of sale, and that is just the state of the industry as unfortunately as that is. The venue was about to have a sold out show be half empty. Many people ahead of us had expensive floor seats ($600 tickets+) and were denied entrance. This is straight up theft. If you do not want your tickets to be resold through other ticketing platforms you have to ensure that they are not being sold anywhere else, you can’t just decide that they are not valid. In any case, AXS already got their money for the tickets they sold, and the whole thing is ludicrous.

I don’t know what happened but eventually the venue decided all these tickets were now valid and everyone rushed to the single entrance in a fit of chaos. Most of the attendees, including us, missed the opening band even though we arrived with plenty of time before they went on. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because once we were inside the venue (by the grace of the god Sleep themself) everything was great. The drinks were good, the seats were comfortable (not that I sat much) and the sound quality was great. Everything about the show was amazing, but those people who got turned away and didn’t happen to stick around for when the venue changed their mind missed it entirely and I...

Getting into the venue was an absolute nightmare. We had resale tickets for Sleep Token, because the original sale tickets were of course bought up immediately by bots and scalpers. We get to the venue, and we're told we need to go to the box office because our tickets were purchased through a 3rd party vendor, even though the tickets showed as AXS. The lines were MASSIVE, and people with resale tickets were being told by venue staff that their tickets wouldn't be honored and they'd have to buy new tickets... after already paying hundreds of dollars per ticket. After standing around for over an hour and completely missing the opening band, staff finally announced that they'd honor resale tickets. Probably because Sleep Token was about to have the final stop of their tour be played to a half empty stadium.

Once inside, the experience was great and the show was epic. But damn, so much unnecessary stress and a lot of people left when turned away, losing...

I have been to the staples center for at least 20 games. Had the honor to meet Rob Parker from the Odd couple show he has with Chris Broussard. I have been a Laker fan since I was a kid and saw Kobe Bryant introduce the world of basketball to me after MJ. He is my all time favorite player so many special moments spent here shout out to my best friend e Chavez. He took me to many of those games La familia. No better time than Shaq and Kobe. I have been here for the Christmas game, but recently a lot of current Laker games from 2018 - 2024 even though I was a fan since a kid. Finally got a chance actually in college back in 2013. I would definitely coming here with your family and friends. It will always be called the Staples center to me I’m a 90s kid. I wore the custom merchandise that I was doing for Jordan Clarkson 6th man of the year. I specialize in working with local brands. Made merch for clippers not yet Lakers hopefully one day. Before they...

More than 100 victims are tied up in a $39 million Ponzi scheme run by 41-year-old Derek Chu of Alamo, according to federal prosecutors. He was arrested May 2 and indicted for running a scheme and spending at least $7 million to fund his own lavish lifestyle. He is accused of conning victims to invest in a fake scheme to buy and resell tickets and luxury suites at Oracle Arena, Staples Center and Chase Center between 2013 and 2020. The indictment alleges that Chu lured unwitting investors by making materially false misrepresentations, including how the investor funds would be used, and how investors would be repaid. ā€œChu commingled the investors’ money between his own personal accounts and his companies’ accounts, which resulted in investor money being used to repay other, earlier investors, and for other unrelated expenses,ā€ federal prosecutors said in a press release. Many of his earlier victims are from San Francisco’s Chinatown, according to attorney Jaynry Mak, who represents about a dozen victims. Kingsley, as he prefers to be called for this story, spoke to KPIX reporter Betty Yu on behalf of his mom, a San Francisco resident, who is out more than $3.5 million. ā€œMy mom had to go through all that, she didn’t speak English. She had to go through all that while being in shame, being embarrassed, but today, with everything that has transpired, she has really realized that it really isn’t about the money anymore,ā€ he said. ā€œCloser to 2016 is when all the money deals started happening, where it’d start out as, ā€˜Hey, if you give me some money I can give you some interest, right? 11%, 18%.’ Sounds really good,ā€ said Kingsley. ā€œSo in the beginning the amounts were in the thousands and it was alright, and Felix would pay it and it was pretty consistent, he’s kind of building his credit, and then after that it started climbing up to tens of thousands… and later it involved the sale of a property, that took it to the millions.ā€ #sanfrancisco #sf #eastbay #news #ponzischeme #alamo #warriors #lakers #suite #chinatown #aapi #chinatownsf #asianamerican #bayarea
