Stay away from this business. I went in for a massage yesterday and the masseuse chatted with me about pressure at the beginning and I told him to “get in there”. Now I’m at an instant care the next morning unable to raise my arm above my head and my shoulder, back, and side is a mass of dark bruises. It’s not my first time there, I’ve gotten deep tissues massages before, and I’m not afraid of pressure, this was something else. During the massage I kept gasping in pain, moving away from him, grabbing the massage table, I asked for less pressure, and told him to stop, but he kept chuckling at me then telling me to “breathe through it” which I foolishly did. I had asked for cupping and he couldn’t get them to stay on me so they kept falling off of me during the massage. I thought he was working out my knots and that I was just sore from working out but now I am having a doctor look at me to see what he did to me. I canceled my membership there afterwards and they need a “full thirty days notice” to stop billing you so not only did I have an awful experience that is costing me more time, money, and pain, I also have a credit for a massage that I definitely will not use or give to anybody because if the sheer incompetence I was put through. I booked a 7:30 PM appointment through their website and received no indication of any issue. When I arrived, the receptionist informed me that their site has ongoing problems and that it only processed a membership purchase—not an actual appointment. She even mentioned that this same issue has affected other customers.
Unfortunately, there were no remaining appointments available. I ended up wasting over an hour on a round-trip drive, all due to a known issue they haven’t fixed.
I requested to cancel the membership and get a refund. I was told to email the manager, Karina, which I did multiple times. No response. I called multiple times and lefts messages with he receptionist, no response from their team. I eventually had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get my money back.
While technical issues can happen, the complete lack of response or accountability is unacceptable. For anyone considering this business, I recommend looking elsewhere as their management clearly does not know how to make things right and take care of...
Read moreThe best present I gifted myself in 2024 was signing up for a membership at The Now. I have chronic neck and shoulder pain and found myself immobile due to excessive screen time (writer on deadline) back in November.
I called The Now, explained my issue, and they recommended I schedule a session with Alexander Chiu.
It was the most therapeutic massage I have ever received - I felt like I was working with a physical therapist. I signed up for "The Stretch" for 80 mins and included Herbal Heat Therapy enhancement. I left a new woman, virtually pain- free.
I try to see him whenever I am in LA (don't live there full-time). I was fortunate enough to see him immediately after a non-stop cross-country flight last Sunday (12/29). I was stiff, sore, and pretty much felt wretched. I told him I had just gotten off a plane and he tailored the session accordingly. After just 50 mins (that was all that was available), I left feeling incredible.
While my massages with him focus on treatment, I'm sure he is excellent for anyone looking just to relax as well.
