The convenience of this underground station is perfect! After traveling quite a ways underground, it’s nice to surface close to the Universal Studios Tram, via the architecturally cool crossing. There’s interesting historical tile art that lines the columns on the islands between the tracks. Metallic tubular art interlaces the ceiling, and cool wall coverings line the walls across from the tracks! I noticed the airflow breeze at the second level especially strong in the late afternoon and evenings here. I’ve not noticed that at other stations, so perhaps that was from the climate differences from one side of the hill, to the other. The wait times were not too long here, with a moderate crowd...
Read moreThis is the nearest train station to my house and I am so grateful for it. The North Hollywood station one stop up sees a much higher volume of riders, more questionable activities in the immediate area, and the train often sits idle for several minutes before taking off.
At Universal, I always feel safe because it is well lit, there are often LAPD officers patrolling the area, and a large majority of the traffic is tourists coming to visit Universal Studios. Read moreThe Red Line Station next to Universal Studios. I always get off at this stop. Unfortunately my car is at the NoHo station and Ill be half way up the stairs before I realize it. Is it faster to take the Red Line into the city? If it's light outside the answer is yes. This station lacks the mentality ill and homeless of the NoHo station. But finding a free place to park during peak hours is unlikely. You can find free parking at the NoHo station (if walking a mile doesn't bother you).
