ATTENTION BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY: STOP spending your money at Wi Spa--especially if you were affected by the fires in Los Angeles, California! The manager, Victoria, is extremely rude and unprofessional. She needs to be terminated immediately. Her behavior is passive-aggressive, no conflict resolution skills and she clearly does not care about the very clients who have helped build the business she receives income from.
I had been staying at the spa nightly because my home is currently under renovation due to the Pasadena fires. The construction is expected to take about two more months. I informed all of the management and even showed them my case documentation.
You know what Victoria said to me? On June 30, 2025 she stated that I couldn't stay on consecutive nights because "Wi Spa is not obligated to help fire victims." Can you believe that?
I had been staying every night for a week with no issues--until the individuals shown in the photos below went and reported me to management. I would always greet them with a smile, and in return, I was met with silence, dismissive attitudes, and ultimately, attempts to block my stays.
I've been a loyal client for over 10 years. Every other business in LA has stepped up to help people affected by the fires--but not Wi Spa. I also brought up the fact that their consecutive stay policy is not enforced properly. They don't have an effective tracking system to monitor how often people stay. I have Caucasian and Asian friends who currently stay consistently in a row without any problems.
It's clear to me that I'm being targeted because I'm African American. That spa is filled with unhappy, prejudiced staff now as well.
Let me give you just one example: On June 9, 2025, I walked into the spa. I'm a tall African American woman with a current short non traditional haircut. As I entered, one of the women pictured below shouted, "There are no men allowed!" I looked at her and calmly replied, "I'm a woman." She laughed, then turned to her friend and started speaking in Spanish. Only after the manager realized what had happened did she step in to correct the situation.
While I have the means to stay at a hotel or Airbnb, I feel safer at the spa because of the security cameras that's over you and the presence of other people sharing the space. The manager then stated that I was not allowed to stay on consecutive nights, claiming this was a policy implemented to deter "homeless people."
I found this explanation troubling, especially since I've observed several Caucasian and Asian women and men staying night after night without issue. I also reviewed the receipt, Wi Spa's website and found no written rule or policy regarding overnight limitations. It appears this rule is selectively enforced, which leads me to believe that I and other black people are being singled out based on race or a perceived economic status. I reported that to a different manager named Erika. She showed me the signage that was covered up in the front by the sign in computers. Stating the consecutive stay policy.
After doing some research, I learned that under California law, including the Unruh Civil Rights Act (Civ. Code § 51), this kind of unequal treatment is both unacceptable and unlawful. The issue stems from the fact that the rules are not being applied consistently to all individuals. Additionally, there is no adequate system in place to track who is checking in and out, making it impossible to fairly enforce the policy. As a result, the rule is applied in a biased and discriminatory manner.
Wi Spa used to be one of my favorite places--not anymore! It's sickening to see how little they care about the very people who helped them reach the level of success they have today. They provide you with all the clothes you need including towels and slippers, so you just show up without any sort of gym bag. recommend this spa for everyone. In whirlpool and sauna area, we had to be completely nude and naked, which at first seemed embarrass, but after 10 minutes we got used to it, because everyone else had no clothes on either, no you do not feel scared or afraid or worry about being naked anymore. Nice rooftop terrace to relax I had a sleep and quiet also the area. My wife was in the ladies side of the business and had the same very pleasant experience and had a great massage. FOLLOW UP: We visited this spa again, since it was so good the last time. This time I was wanted to for sure the COLD plunge (cold whirlpool) in the whirlpool area. I had done a cold plunge earlier in my life many years. You see, for you folks out there that don't know what a COLD plunge or pool it, itis that after you do the hot tub and then immediately do the COLD tub, you body feels super strong, like you feel like you can life 500 pounds. The whole problem, is getting in the cold water after getting out of the hot whirlpool. I tried it and failed the first time, tried it again and could not take it, even though I saw all of these asian guys doing it like it was nothing. One asian guy who I saw many times walk in and out of cold tub was now sitting in the chair besides the cold tub resting and watching me and smiling freindly and I ask him how do you guys simply walk in this cold water? He laughed and said, the answer is simple. You keep telling yourself and your mind the this water is cold, so you beleive it is cold and you keep fighting it. Don't ever tell you mind and body this water is cold and so quit fighting it. Never do that again to tell your mind and body that this water is too cold. When you get out of HOT tub, come over here and simply walk or jump in the COLD and do NOT ever let into your mind anything else. Just simply do it. I tried that after sitting there and concentrating, because I was determined to do this and saw these other (mostly asians) guys getting in COLD water with no problem. So after meditating and even praying for a few minutes, getting it out of my mind that the water was cold, I tried it again, and when getting in the COLD, I told myself that "this water ain't cold" and I DID IT. Not only once, but again with no problem just like the asian guys. After a while, I realized the whole problem and my fright and scared was JUST IN MY MIND , when in reality, I had NO problem. That's exactly what that asian guy told me. So just get something out of your mind or tell yourself "this is no problem, don't ever even think it's a problem, IT WORKED. So, after a while, I looked for that asian guy that helped me so I could say "thank you", but he was gone and had left I guess and never saw him again. They will out of no where treat you like a criminal and thief without ANY EXPLANATION AND KICK YOU OUT WITH NO SHAME. This is not how any businesses are supposed to run in the United States, but the way they falsely accuse and inhumanely mistreat customers apparently is LEGAL and PERFECTLY FINE. I mean, it is your money and you decide what you want to do, but if anyone has slightest care about such thing as business ethics and justice, this is not the business to support and spend your money to. They think they are the king and queen and customers are peasants who they could freely and casually do wrong to just because they can and they won't face any charges. As law-abiding citizens with acute sense of justice and ethics, my mom and I have never been treated this way anywhere in our entire life as if we are some criminal, and I really don't think anyone should deserve this kind of treatment like us in their time with family and friends.

I am still trying to get out of the intense state of anger and frustration I have never felt in my life, but I couldn't wait even a second more without sharing this unbelievably terrible experience with prospective visitors. I have so much to share and say but I will make it as simple as possible for easy read.
Long story short, my mom and I were defamed and humiliated by this business, more specifically a Korean female manager who was in charge at night wearing pink frame glasses right at the door with outrageous false accusation that we left without paying on our last visit 3 days ago.
We used to love this place and have visited there almost close to 100 times, and we checked in today together as we always did with the discounted admission tickets we purchase at bulk and waited for the shirts but as soon as the receptionist scanned the barcode of the coupon, he went into the back room and this woman, who later introduced herself to be the manager and ONLY PERSON IN CHARGE of the entire facility upon my request to see the manager, jumped out of the small backroom behind the front desk and out of nowhere told us with cold face that "you can't check in because you left without paying last time". That is exactly what she said word for word.
And, both of us had no idea what she is talking about because first of all, how in the hell could anyone leave the facility without paying? As far as we know, this whole place is always monitored by the receptionists, but anyhow we, for the first time, found out that such this is possible and we are being accused of this nonsense crime.
My mom and I first tried to understand the situation together and told her she is wrong because we did pay when we checked out just like we always do, but she then came again telling my mom can check in and I can't saying my mom paid and I left without paying. I told her no that's no possible because my mom paid the bill for both of us as we were checking out together and I told her to look into it again or show us based on what she is making such claim, but THE ONLY THING SHE DID is keeping shaking her head and kept asking me to leave. She even accused me "You should know better than that", and it literally drove me crazy.
Not only was she accusing me of leaving this facility without paying, now she was accusing me of INTENTIONALLY AND PURPOSEFULLY leaving...
