it looks unassuming and like any other korean restaurant but in fact is a very old, classic or famous (among koreans) soondae specialty restaurant, it was even once reviewed or listed by LA times food section. Its specialty is korean soondae, (pigs blood and noodle sausage, it tastes better than how it sounds though) authentic and freshly made there, so you can try that if pork is on your menu. but we like the goats meat stew, i think is called goats meat but i think is actually lamb so no game flavor or smell really, quite tender and they give you big portion. So if pork is not your thing but like meat , goats meat stew is highky recommended, price has increased since covid started but its the same for everything and other restaurants, but for now is just below $20 w/tax for take out. One order could be just enough for two if you eat...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. The 순대국 (soondae soup) was the worst I've ever had: the meat was unappetizingly old, and the intestines were slimy and off-putting (and I always order mixed in other restaurants). The soup itself was barely warm (other places come literally boiling in the pot) and lacked seasoning, with literally 5 pieces of soondae. The table next to us left their $28 soondae untouched, and we couldn't finish even half of our soups. The kimchi was overly salty, bitter, and clearly aged. For their above average price range, I expected far better quality and authenticity. This place falls short compared to other Korean spots in both Korea and K-town. As an avid soondae fan avoid here at all cost to satisfy...
Read moreI got the soondae soup and it was so good. It was really flavorful. The sausage, as well as the offal, inside were very delicious.
The banchan were all excellent too. A lot of umami and each had their own flavor which added complexity to the entire meal. The salad banchan had sesame oil and maybe some vinegar. It was delish. The daikon kimchi was my favorite banchan. The spicy fish sauce side was perfect.
I love the corn water they served. Wow.
And, the service was excellent, to boot. I’ve never been to this place or had soondae before so I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to eat everything. I just watched the people around me and copied them.
I want to go back for the spicy goat soup and I am always a sucker...
