My review as someone currently employed in a leadership role at another coffee shop:
Lovely space! Good lighting, seating, and pretty good flow. Close to UofL which is appreciated. I like the beverage menu but some pastries could use a bit more labeling to help out with customer/employee interactions. The variety of pastries is impressive, but personally I would prefer a smaller selection that was fresher. Especially since the prices are a bit higher than most other stores. Iâve come in the a.m. and the pastries Iâve tried have been dry or cold and stale unfortunately. Not terrible by any means but I just canât justify the price.
The beverages Iâve tried have tasted very good! I do think the baristas aerate milk a bit more like a cappuccino than a latte though. Matcha crafting process could also use a little improvement as there were chunks at the bottom of the cup, making the last third undrinkable :( If anyone drinks matcha youâll know how awful a chunk of dry powder can be! Overall great selection of drinks to choose from though. The average customer will definitely enjoy their main offerings!
The checkout process is a lot easier and customer friendly than a lot of places in the area (including my store lol) so thatâs awesome! I donât usually like to comment on staff because I know thereâs a lot of things/stressors/etc going on behind the scenes, but I think staff could maybe be a touch more friendly. When Iâve visited itâs been slow but interactions felt a bit rough. Iâm not sure if maybe there was some stress due to only having one person on the floor, maybe they open alone, or something else. Personally I always try to not let those frustrations impact customer interactions.
Overall I gave the cafe a 3/5, the two points taken off for me were due to the pastry quality and price, room for beverage quality improvement, and room for improvement with customer interactions/service. Iâm a little biased as someone who crafts and serves coffee and other cafe items almost daily and leads a great team of baristas at my store, but this is still a great location with a great selection of about...
Read moreWe had an almond croissant $(7.27) and a Dubai chocolate Turkish Delight ($9.35) with a large cold mocha ($7.27) and a large spiced bayt frappe ($7.27). The total cost was $31.94 w/tax. Expensive!
The Turkish delight was very dry, but tasty. The almond croissant was not particularly good. The cold mocha was not in any way special or delicious and in fact, my wife felt it needed and asked for additional milk and added sugar. The frappe was the highlight and an interesting Flavor, which we both would recommend trying.
When we travel, we like to try different coffee and pastry shops. Suffice to say that weâve been to scores. In our hometown, St. Louis, Missouri, we have some of the countries best food, including coffee and pastry. I have to say that this shop does not compare and is more expensive and from the perspective of atmosphere fails to meet the test. The decor and feeling is completely inconsistent. You have to see the place to see what I mean.
Unfortunately, Google will not allow a half rating. Due to the service, which was good. I would have given this coffee and pastry shop a 3 1/2. The atmosphere and food I would give her three on a five point scale.
Would I go back or recommend this particular place? No. Iâve got to believe thereâs better and more reasonably priced bakery and coffee shops...
