I am really disappointed in my service at this salon. I came here a couple years ago and the first time I showed up (after driving an hour) just to be told that they wouldn't have enough time to do what I wanted with my hair (even though I had set up an appt) for a full foil. So the manager calls me the next day after I left very upset and tells me she will make it up and set me up with the right person. So I said okay why not I had a gift certificate. But after all is said and done it didn't turn out the way I wanted it. That experience I would rate at a 3. This time I was referred by my mom because I hadn't gone for years and when I called I spoke with a woman named Brittany who said I would receive 50 percent off my hair because I was referred. I said okay great! Then when another woman called to confirm the appt I wanted to make sure that it was in the system that I would receive that discount. Well boom just like I thought Brittany was wrong the girl says "no you get a keratin treatment and its in your file" I'm like, okay fine hopefully it just turns out great.
Well when I show up I explain to the colorist and show pics of what I want. She listened and did chunky highlights as I requested but when she toned it, it came out like BLACK AND WHITE almost witchy looking instead of it being warmer. But she still got the bold part so I wasn't as upset but still upset. After all that my original hair cutter had to leave so I went with another. I told her I needed to keep length on my hair and I was weary about getting a lot cut off. Man I stood up while she cut my hair for half the time (not comfortable) and she cut off so much its barely past my shoulders when before it was halfway down to my breasts and I am a d cup .I was so upset it was so bluntly cut it looked terrible. After styling I had to ask for her to put serum in since it felt dry and frizzy (even after the keratin treatment) I put it in MYSELF and after drying I was so upset of how short my hair really was. It may not feel short to others but to me it was a drastic cut. On top of that she didn't cut my bangs and just left the rest bluntly cut. I told her how I felt about it in the nicest way possible and she said I would adjust but that I needed it.
When checking out I was visibly upset and the lady was like okay its 230 dollars. And so I had to literally tell her the keratin treatment should have been free. After all of the phone calls and verifying and contradictions of this "referral" thing I had to tell the girl that it should be free. She was like oh okay let me get the manager. The manager was really nice she was the ONLY thing that made me feel at ease she's like we will take care of it and then I told her nicely I wasn't happy about my hair and I was about to cry! She gave me her card and told me in a couple days if I still wasn't happy then to call me. But honestly I just never want to return there again. I am also going to tell my sister and mom to stop going there because my mom wasn't happy with her service last time either. Its a real bummer I wasted hundreds of dollars on hair I really hate. The more I look at it the more I want to cry. I will never refer anyone there ever. Two bad experiences in a row, and then my mom not being happy either with her last one after spending so much makes it not worth it at all. And its not like they can fix it, you can't force someone's hair to grow. Don't waist your time and money go to another salon. The people are nice but the results are NOT EVEN CLOSE to worth the price. I work with all women in my department and work I feel like I'm going to cry there and then warn them to NEVER EVER GO TO...
Read moreSo disappointed with Gene Juarez!!! It was are first Mother's Day together and I wanted to do something special for my wife as she works so hard throughout the year. I inquired about the special Mother's Day packages that Gene Juarez offered. I fortunately the 4 hour spa package was booked up for Morhers day. Knowing how hard she works I ended up getting a mani and a pedi for her alon with terrapin waxing for her hands and feet. I set this all up for her to have a great relaxing Mother's Day. With me being a real dork as to how much of a tip I should of left for a great experience I had a wonderful conversation with the receptionist and she assured me that a tip of $55.00 was awesome. I paid in advance and also left the $55.00 tip in advance to ensure she had a great experience and she wouldn't have to worry about paying and just worry about relaxing! Everything went well until the pedi and Mani. Right after completion of her newly painted nails Joy grabbed my wifes purse and asked if she needed help with her things. This was literally seconds after completing the mani and pedi. My wife being the gray person that she is didnt complain as she felt pushed out of the facility. Joy did say she could wait in the Lobby until her nails dried. At that point my wife felt uncomfortable being there as Joy was pushing her out for her next appointment although there was no one in any chairs next to her! What was supposed to be a relaxing two hours turned into a rush to finish by Joy so she could move on to the next customer! She left with mani and pedi just completed and pushed out the door with her nails wet. After her appointment we had a game for the kids. Needless to say no matter how careful she was her nails and her toenails were scuffed and scratched because Joy wouldn't let them dry before she kicked her out of the chair and made her sit in the lobby! Unacceptable!!!! I paid more for my wife to be pampered a little bit and I tipped in advance on top of it! Good thing I didn't spend the $400 dollars for the six hour pampering like I wanted! Great job Gene Juarez! Your supposed to be the best and that's why I sent my wife there on Mother's Day! You completely failed after o took care of the bill and tip! She could of got a better mani and pedi for a fraction of the cost! Shame on you Joy of the Alderwwod Mall! I tipped you in advance for a service and you complete failed her! I had to send her to a different plan after because of your lack of integrity! And I paid a fraction of the cost! Gene Juarez you lost a customer that would of sent my wife there on every holiday. My wife can get better service for a completely lower bill!!! I'm sure I won't Here a thing from Gene Juarez at it just seems like my wife was just number to Joy with a...
Read moreI've waited a few weeks to review my last experience at this salon, because A. I was going on vacation the next day, so I didn't want to focus on negative and B. I wanted to ask friends and family if they found my experience as unacceptable as I did. They did.
To start, I had been to this salon previously. My hair type is documented. I am of mixed race, and have thick, course, curly, chemically relaxed hair. I came in for a deep conditioner and blowout to prepare for a trip I was taking the next day. When i made my appointment, I was told that because of my "hair length" it would take longer, and cost $70. That's fine. I know my hair takes a bit longer than most, and I tip well because of it.
I arrived for my appointment, and while waiting, someone called my name. I got up, and looked around, but saw nobody but for someone retreating back to the counter. I continued to wait, and probably 5-10 minutes later, one of the ladies from the front counter called my name and started to walk over to me. She told me that my wait would be longer, because the person that I had been scheduled with didn't do "my type of hair." At that, I raised my brows, and gave her a look, that must have said "a fit is about to be had" because she changed her story to that the person strictly does haircuts, and no blowouts. I really didn't buy that. She offered me 20% off my service due to my wait. Which was nice, but I was very embarrassed by what she had said (loudly, in front of a full waiting area), and that it seems like my assigned designer came out, saw me, and declined to serve me.
The person who I ended up having do my hair, Elle, was excellent. She was sweet, did a great and thorough job on my hair, and when she found our that I had not been offered wine during my wait, which apparently, everybody else was, she ran to make sure I got some.
Overall, I did end up getting what I wanted, but I can't help but feel discriminated against. I understand that my hair is different, but I was asking for a blowout - not dreads or braids or a weave. Anybody at your salon should be able to do that for anybody. GJ is not my normal salon - I usually go to Elle Marie across the street for my relaxers and cuts, but I have come to GJ occasionally because I can usually get a same day appointment for a blowout with no issue. I likely won't be returning after this experience. I left the salon feeling less than other customers, and I hope this was just a one time faux pas, because I wouldn't wish...
