I recently canceled my membership and my husbands membership at the LA Fitness in Lynnwood, and I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience. My husband and I were members at the LA Fitness in Seattle for over three years and had great experiences there. However, upon moving to Lynnwood, we encountered numerous issues transferring my husband's membership to the new location.
Despite my husband being a member in Seattle, the Lynnwood staff made it extremely difficult for him to work out. They repeatedly refused him entry because he didnât have a ID, and at one point, they insisted he sign a waiver before he could work out. The most upsetting incident occurred when the ânewâ manager, an African-American man with dreadlocks and glasses, yelled at me because my husband entered the gym while I briefly stepped out to the car. He claimed my husband couldn't be inside without me, despite my husband being a paying member at the Seattle location. This confrontation was humiliating, occurring in front of other patrons, and the managerâs behavior was incredibly rude and unprofessional.
In addition to the poor customer service, the Lynnwood facility itself was poorly maintained. The machines were not well taken care of, and the staff had a generally bad attitude.
Ultimately, we decided to cancel our memberships and have since joined a smaller, local gym next door that operates 24 hours and provides a much more welcoming environment. It's sad that we had to leave LA Fitness, but we could not continue at a location that treated us so poorly. I would not recommend the Lynnwood LA Fitness location to anyone. The Seattle location was fantastic, but the Lynnwood management does not care about their clients. My husband is a professional bodybuilder And we train at several different gyms and have never experienced what we experienced at this location itâs really sad because the gym is literally our life if you are an athlete and serious about working out I donât recommend this location. I really hope they improve the way they...

I tried three times to get help for club member cancellation. Nobody helped me. They kick the ball to each other but no one really wants to talk to me, instead they roll their eyes at me, giving me an attitude, even threatening me with digging my personal information, and force me to leave.
First of all, when you are not sure about your club policy or how to help a member cancel the subscription, the first thing you need to do is not ask your member to leave. Instead, you should go ask your supervisor or a senior-level person to consult for more information before you try threatening your customer to leave. I was shocked when the front desk guy ask me to leave without helping me at all. All I have asked is to cancel the membership and why there will be another charge after I canceled my membership.
Second, as a fitness club, your customer comes and goes. This is a super normal cycle that every fitness club should be really familiar with. Especially all of the front desk employees as they are client facing, they should be able to direct clients to the right person. At least customer-facing employees should know the procedure well. If you donât, the least thing you wanna do is to blame your customer for not reading their agreement.
This guy treated me like Iâm trespassing his own property and also calling me making a scene. He first blamed me for not reading my agreement, then force me to leave immediately. Then there were three employees yelling at the same time, asking me to leave, and all they said that is blaming me or not folllowing their policy which I donât even know because nobody told me what the policy is. Their executive vice president, Jeff even threatened me with saying, âLetâs find out more of your information,â then he started looking into the system and trying to dig me up. WOW! Simply WOW. What a great way to treat your customer.
Question: would anybody want to go to such...
Read moreHave been with LA Fitness since 2008 when I started in Millcreek. Lynnwood has been my home gym 5 or 6 days a week since the day it opened many years ago.
Though I am glad they finally remodeled the building added additional equipment, & updated equipment. I am highly disappointed that I was informed the basketball court has been permanently removed. This the only properly maintained & regularly used basketball court out of all local LA fitness locations. It was typically packed on weekends & evenings. It was my favorite way of getting cardio in addition to my lifting.
I believe that considering the monthly price has gone up significantly over the years that this is a clear sign that ownership is not paying attention to their customers want or do. Adding large sections for personal training only and some sort of special membership (basketball court) is ridiculous as most regular members have no interest in a personal trainer due to already living healthy lifestyles.
Other clubs in the area (Mukilteo, Everett, & Mill Creek) are poorly maintained and I can confirm both locations have broken basketball courts currently as I was using them the last couple weeks waiting for this remodel to be completed.
It appears it is finally time to switch back to 24 hour fitness or look at other gyms over the next week or so in my free time. I hear Harbor Square Athletic Club just a couple miles away is really nice. I will miss the convenience and way this gym once was as my escape for home & work for 2 to 3 hours but I will commute further for a better gym. I know they will lose a large number of members due these ignorant mistakes as most of the guys I worked out with will also be disappointed when they find out the basketball court will returning (the room is currently under construction for this new "special membership")
Please note this is note a complaint against local staff & management as I believe this to be the work of a corporate company giving generalized changes...
