While I agree that some of the librarians are fairly helpful, the library itself is in neglect. It smells of mildew, and I think the furnishings are from the '70s, including all the dirt and stains. There are items strewn all over the areas where the patrons check out and the librarians' work areas, and it just looks unkempt, almost as if the staff gave up years ago trying to keep it neat and in order. It definitely makes me long for my old library, located in the northwest area of Oakland County, that was three times the size and where everything was neatly arrayed and clean and new.
I generally do love libraries, but MH is so depressing that I avoid it unless I absolutely have to go to it...

Read moreIt has been years since I have been here. The facility has changed so much for the better. I had a great visit with my niece. The kids' section was great was great. They had so many choices for toys plus other activities. Like learning about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. With crafts to go with it.. I love the self check option. Plus, my niece loves to return your books it goes into Oscar the Grouches mouth, which is so much fun. I also love that she can go to Royal Oak with her Madison Heights card as well. Keep up...
