I spent a lot of time looking up haunted houses and figured this one would be great because of the Google reviews (I know I shouldn't use this as evidence for something being good or bad) as well as thescarefactor website (which I found out that a few of their top ten haunted houses are all owned by the same parent company - a couple of them are actually really good though). Anyways, both sites rated this as the highest quality haunted house in Michigan... Well, sadly it doesn't come close. We went on the 2nd Saturday (maybe not the best idea) of October and waited over two hours in line to get to the door (we paid $20 for our tickets and were not about to spend $80 for the "fast pass")... The entire time we waited there was extremely loud mainstream pop/rap music blaring, with smoke machines that would fill the entire waiting area with very thick smoke (oddly enough it smelled like vape fluid and not like the smoke that most smoke machines produce) and flashing strobe/laser lights that are constantly going off for TWO HOURS! This might sound okay to you, you might think I'm exaggerating, but I've been to more than a few places with similar effects and man, did they over do it. It's an assault on every bodily sense you have. Honestly I started to get extremely board and frustrated and started wondering if the horror experience was the line. Anyways, after two hours we finally got to the DJ/front of the line (the DJ is basically also the door greater). We went in and was instantly unimpressed by the low level of dƩcor and environment. We were basically in a warehouse (no ceiling in most of the rooms so you can see the warehouse at some points) that was decorated with Spirit Halloween "premium" dƩcor lol. The actors were not trying very hard (and it was still kind of early in the night, we were probably about at the half way point of their shift), some of them weren't even at their spots when we arrived (we had to wait for the "ball shooting clown" to show up after a few minutes of wondering what the point of the room was - he literally just opened the door from the "employee's only area" and casually walked over to the "gun" as if he couldn't be less into it). For the most part their costumes were very basic (ripped clothing, paint, etc...). The entire experience only lasted about 10-15mins (very short compared to most haunted houses and for that price) and it wasn't exciting. None of the room themes were that good. Honestly I would not recommend spending your time and money here because in the end, sadly, it's just not even remotely worth it. I wish I would have read a detailed review like this before going, I would have probably went somewhere else. I have been to a lot of haunted houses so if you want a recommendation, go to Rotten Manor (the best haunted house I've been to), Erebus (not the best, but pretty good compared to this), Haunted Farm of Terror (also not the best, but pretty good), or just anywhere besides this and Hush. This was incredibly disappointing and I'm really shocked at how high the reviews on Google are. I'm guessing they used a service to populate it with good reviews or have just been deleting the bad, I don't know, but I can tell you that I don't have extraordinary expectations from these kind of places, I just want to go have fun like anyone else, and honestly I could not enjoy this in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwesome experience! The moment you step in line it feels like a party! The fire dancers and DJ did a great job at making the wait in line enjoyable. You just want to dance! This aspect is different than any other haunted attraction you will go to. You will be brought UP (happy) to immediately DOWN (anxious) once you step into the haunt. The roller coaster of emotion is quite unique. The design of the haunt is great. Very immersive. We loved the room of mirrors and laser swamp most of all! Big thanks to all the ACTORS that stayed in character! Some of them stood so still that you could not tell if they were a prop or an actor until the last minute. By that time youāre jumping from them screaming in your face or lunging towards you. Special mention to the Pumpkin Man that made us do the Hammer Time dance and kept asking if my girlfriend would give me up as a sacrifice. Thanks babe for saying āNOā when everyone else in the haunt said āYESā. Azra is a true test of relationship loyalty. I would also like to mention that we were immensely impressed by how well each group was spaced. We never saw another group while in the haunt which allowed us to enjoy this attraction 100%. It is nice that Azra offers a guaranteed spaced out walkthrough for an additional cost. We went on Thursday so we did not need to spend on that add on since it was not particularly busy and thank you to the ticket person for being honest about not needing it that night. I would suggest it on a Friday or Saturday though. Lastly, we paid the extra $5/each for the glow stick and āmoreā immersive experience. We asked what this would entail, and expectedly got a vague answer to prevent spoilers. We do wish that we were made aware that items may be placed on us that would require a rinse to get completely out. Nothing necessarily gross was placed on us, but we had plans after this haunt and would have not partook in this part if we knew in advance. This part was not BAD it was just that we did not have all the information to help us make a better decision. This forced us to go to our after plans not as āfreshā as we would have liked. To prevent this from happening to other patrons, I strongly suggest asking people if they have plans to go somewhere after or telling them they may have things put on them. All in all, it was one of the best haunts we have been to. Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot worth $30 for a ticket. Every thing about the experience was mediocre.
The line entertainment that is hyped up on the website is just eh. There was some girl hula hopping and then another using an angle grinder on this metal bra thing?? She didnāt have safety glasses on so was that the trick? It was bizarre and made no sense. Fire guy was cute, equivalent of a baton dancer with some fire at the end of the stick. I donāt know what the DJ was on....he only played songs from 2008-2012. Very odd. Poor guyās attempts to hype up the crowd were just awkward.
The biggest issue in the line was the lack of social distancing. They had spray painted spots on the ground six feet apart but everyone ignored those. I wish an employee would have gone around and spaced every one out considering there was plenty of room to do so.
Actual haunted house was eh. I was at the front and I jumped a few times, but I could almost always tell when someone was about to jump out. Some of the effects were cool and I appreciated the attention to detail. At one point they gave you 3D glasses and as someone who wears glasses, this was kind of annoying. There wasnāt time to stop and fiddle around with trying to get them over my glasses that were already fogging up because of my face mask and the effects. The actors did a good job, but I just really wasnāt impressed or scared. It was something to do, but was not worth the money. I give three stars just to be fair, because it wasnāt awful, but not as advertised.
Also, the donut things at the end were awful. Cold, soggy rings with a sad drizzle of glaze and cinnamon on the top. Not good and not worth $7.
Yāall...
