My review is mixed: on one hand, the carousel is an amazing attraction for kids, and mine absolutely loved it. It’s also fairly cheap and good value. However, during the course of our one week trip (with daily carousel visits), the employees were indifferent at best, rude and hostile at worst. One day the town library hosted an event where all the kids could ride the carousel for free. The staff was TOTALLY unprepared for the number of visitors and took their stress out on the visitors, including children! Literal grown women were yelling at kids who were just trying to follow instructions but were given mixed information from various employees. It was absolute mayhem and unfortunately the employees handled it really poorly instead of with grace and kindness to the children, whose...

Just know they load 5 riders at a time. You have to buy your ticket before you get in line. Most visitors are a little frustrated because it’s the slowest line for a carousel they’ve ever encountered, and general confusion amongst the people waiting.
The ride starts every 5 minutes. So if you arrive and there are 20 people in front of you it’s at least 20 minutes of waiting. I gather the antique carousel is not considered robust enough to fill the seats. Seems part of the next restoration should be to allow more than 10% capacity.

Read moreI've been delighted to ride this antique carousel for years and it never disappoints. It has beautifully painted horses and at least two benches if you would prefer. The olde time carnival type music when it is in motion is nostalgic and creates a great atmosphere. Adults and kids love it plus it has a great location and view on the water in Greenport. Usually a group of great young folks working there. Heads up, I believe it is still a cash only location. I included a picture of one of the carousel horses that cropped for privacy that I took during a ride early 2024.
