We felt like eating BBQ and decided to try this place out. We typically avoid majority of the restaurants on Front Street for a few reasons but they had a kids menu and outdoor seating. My husband tried this place one time before and he remembered it being okay. This time, it was the worst.
We should have listened to the host when he suggested to sit in the dining area downstairs but we really wanted the balcony upstairs. There was seating there so that’s where we were taken. I was asking our waiter where he wants us to sit and he was just staring at us and mumbled something. Eventually I understood “anywhere”. Aside from us, there were two other tables up there so I assumed things would run smoothly. Nope. When we were placing our order, there was no response from the waiter. When it came to ordering the wings, we had NO clue what he was saying because he was talking to low. It was such an uncomfortable experience with him. We ordered two pastas for the kids, brisket, wings as a starter and then 3 adult entrees. We asked for plates when the appetizers came and the person handing it to us was just staring into a void. One of them almost fell. The brisket was soft but it lacked flavor. The wings were pretty good. They forgot one of the kids pasta and we asked for it again to only be looked at confused by the runner. Eventually we got it. My entree was the shrimp, cilantro rice, and the jalapeño cornbread. The shrimp sucked. There was a weird flavor and smell to them. The cilantro was ice was the best thing on the table so definitely get it. Everyone agreed. The cornbread tasted like regular corn bread. You didn’t get any hint of jalapeño or heat. They forgot the fries to my husband’s plate too. The cocktail drink was weak but good. When we asked for the check, the process was super slow and it wasn’t even busy. At this point, there were only two tables occupied. I took the kids and left to head to the carousel because they were growing bored. There are definitely other places where the quality of food is better and it’ll...
Read moreTrying this place for the first time since it opened...staff was very friendly and the place is cute and comfortable...come as you are...my husband ordered a beer on tap and i tried one of the special drinks...a blood orange margarita, which was just delicious...they should have filled it to the rim for the $12 price take, but it was really good. They brought some jalapeño cornbread and butter to the table and it was slightly sweet with a little kick...i enjoyed it very much. Then we had a small plate of wings...honey bbq sprinkled with scallions with a side of real blue cheese dressing with giant chucks of cheese...loved them. I ordered the special which was seared scallops on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes...lemony and buttery ...i ate every bite. My husband ordered the brisket. The food was delayed a bit because, the chef who came over to apologize explained that, it was a little busier than they had expected and they were waiting for the smoker to finish it up. Lucky us, we got a super-fresh falling apart with a touch of the fork, absolutely delicious and GIGANTIC piece of brisket.,,,it came with homemade bbq sauce that was tomato based but a little Smokey and spicy and the Cole slaw which was very nice. To make up for the delay, they sent over a piece of homemade ricotta based cheesecake with homemade whipped cream and lemon drizzle on the side. Oh my goodness...it was great...not very sweet...neither was the cream, but it was awesome. Aside from my special drink, everything was very reasonably priced. I will definitely return and...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 10 people, for which we arrived promptly. After being seated for about 10 minutes a server appeared and admitted she was the only server for the room, which at that time consisted of 8 tables including ours and a 6 top. We ordered cocktails and water for the table, after another 15 minutes we had nothing. We asked who appeared to be the manager or host, and he barely responded but shortly after we noticed running across the street to their sister restaurant for an unknown reason, as did our server before him. After about a half hour a server appeared from 'upstairs' and proceeded to take our order. Our cocktails arrived shortly after, but still no water. After several more mintues, my husband approached the owner/manager/host person and asked about service, to which he received a shoulder shrug and a 'we're short staffed' response. Considering we weret about an hour after our reservation and seating, we agreed as a group that we should try to find another option for our meal, and we decided to leave and go elsewhere, as did the 6 top sitting next to us. There is common ownership here between Anker and Industry Standard. The owner(s) really needs to focus on one spot and pay...
