The amount of love I have for Common Ground is beyond measure. I make sure to visit and pick up a treasured piece (or two) every time I visit as a little treat. The vibe of this shop is all about tranquility and entering the space feels like a hug. I’d been wanting to take the silversmithing class for a while now but had put it off secondary to my own laziness. However, when Alexa had announced that jewelry making would no longer be offered as of January - well I jumped on it as soon as I could. This ended up being a birthday present from my wife. We chose to make rings as our beginner class and it was an ABSOLUTE JOY. Alexa is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning from. She is patient, calm, limitlessly knowledgeable, and in love with her craft. She takes safety seriously and helped us through any of our concerns. What’s more, even when I totally did not follow instructions, Alexa was able to help fix my piece and did so with kindness. Take a silversmithing class with Alexa – she is an amazing teacher! My wife and I took a private lesson to make our wedding bands, and it was one of the best decisions we made leading up to the big day.

Throughout our lesson, Alexa helped us with both technical instructions and even a little science to explain the how/why for the techniques we were using. On the day of the wedding, I retold the story of how the rings were made many times over – it was such a fun experience! Our rings have little imperfections here and there, and when I see them I am reminded of how proud I feel that we made them ourselves.
