COME ON NEW OWNER, PLEASE STEP IT UP AND SAVE THIS FANTASTIC PLACE!! Start focusing on quality vs. quantity! You don't need 3 trashed Galagas, 5 trashed Ms. PacMans, 3 broken Pitch and Bats, or a whole row of broken EM gun games. Keep ONE in fully working order and perhaps one as a rotational spare! Get rid of the HUNDREDS of dirty, stale gumball and candy machines all over the place to free up room. I know it's definitely an uphill battle, and the games were neglected under the previous owner LONG before you bought it, but PLEASE DO SOMETHING BETTER than the last guy over the past decade!
I have LOVED this place for over 40 years. The games have always been a little on the warn side, but we went today and were SHOCKED at how many games were "Out of Order," had MAJOR THINGS THAT DIDN'T WORK but still were on, or even worse, just TOOK THE QUARTERS and didn't even credit up. I'd conservatively guess that 50% of the games we put money in didn't work correctly or at all. I don't mind "donating" that money to keep the place alive, but with so many things not working, it's getting hard to want to come back.
Bally Fireball only has one working flipper, Mata Hari's drop targets don't work, ALL of the EM gun games take your money and don't work, pneumatic ball shooting games didn't shoot balls, QBERT takes your money and doesn't work, the wood-ball skeeball wasn't issuing tickets and the attendants didn't care, Dig Dug was broken, Centipede was broken, EVERY pitch and bat broken, etc, etc, etc!
Set up a sheet for customers to write down issues or hire people that will actually write down complaints and knock them out! Sell some games to generate money to pay to fix others!! Decom one of the too many active buildings to collect neglected games, so they're out of the way and you can work on them during the day. Get collectors and pinball hobbyists to help donate labor. I WILL HELP!!! Contact me.
This was the lowlight of our trip to Colorado springs and the surrounding area, I brought my 11 year old son to the penny arcade to find out games are 1-4 quarters. No big deal, times change prices go up but the games themselves had a lot of errors and eaten coins. My son ended up with 865 tickets and wanted a hat that was 875 it was 10:02 PM or else I'd just have him earn the extra 10 tickets, with time being up I asked the attendant at the prize desk if there was anyway to pay for the extra 10 tickets, which he replied "you can't buy the tickets" in a snarky attitude. I apologized for bothering him, had my son pick out other prizes and he ended up having 15 tickets left over from picking out smaller prizes, he didn't want candy so I asked the same attendant what they did with the extra tickets to one uses. Without thinking he told me they throw them into a bin to throw them out, while he didn't have to go in that bin to retrieve 15 extra tickets to allow my son to get the hat he wanted he could have easily accommodated my son with 15 extra tickets and everyone would have been happy. If you're the owner of this establishment and reading this, I'd talk to your 18-20 year old male employee with blonde hair and wispy facial hair, he was working the prize desk at closing time on June 18th. In my opinion his customer service and attitude with your customers is off putting and we won't be back based on our interaction with...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of visiting the Manitou Springs Penny Arcade several times, and each visit is just as exciting as the first. The charm of this classic arcade never fades. With its collection of vintage arcade games, it offers a nostalgic experience that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you're into pinball machines, skee-ball, or old-school video games, there’s something for everyone here. The atmosphere is lively, full of energy, and definitely takes you back in time.
One of the best parts of the arcade is its prime location along the strip in downtown Manitou Springs. From here, you get a fantastic view of the charming downtown area, with all its unique shops and mountain views. It's the perfect spot to spend an afternoon, especially if you're looking for some fun after exploring the town.
After working up an appetite from all the games, I highly recommend stopping by Border Burger Bar just down the street. The food there is absolutely amazing, with juicy burgers that hit the spot every time. But what really stands out are the sweet potato fries—crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the ideal side to any meal. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting the area.
All in all, the Manitou Springs Penny Arcade offers a fantastic experience that never gets old. Paired with great food nearby, it’s an outing that’s sure to delight every time. I can’t...
