I live in Manteo but have an out of state license. Although I have proof that I live here, they wouldn’t allow me to get a library card because my rental contract isn’t for a full year. They said I could pay for a visitors card. I’ve lived all over and always get a library card at the local library and have never run into this issue. I’m a big supporter and advocate for using libraries. It’s just a shame that this one runs this way. I left the library feeling very disappointed. Read moreI always have loved coming to the library.. it's just more enjoyable to read a book than read on the computer..the staff are friendly and really helpful... But what I love the most is how kid friendly they are ..it's a great way to pass a hot afternoon and the kids really enjoy it.. my grandchildren enjoyed reading to me, playing a few games on the computer ( there's a children's spot to go online in the kids section) and they even enjoyed grabbing some crayons ( that are supplied) and coloring some pictures from super large coloring books.. had a good time with them and it's...
Read moreReally Wonderful Place with a great, helpful staff. It's smaller than most public libraries because Manteo isn't a very big place itself. It's just a barrier island on the Coast of North Carolina. I have always been impressed with their selection of books. What they don't have, they can get through inter library loan. Free computer time is available. You only have to sign in and wait if the computers are all taken; however, if there's a list of people waiting, usage time is limited to an hour per person.
