just now Our builder (new construction house) used Manteo Furniture and Appliance for our kitchen and laundry appliances. My first stay there to setuop the house, the fridge water line was not installed properly, and fortuntately I was there when our water sensor alarm (SimpiSafe, we strongly recommend) went off. The builder made sure this was resolved.

A couple of weeks later I was the with the family for the first time, Thanksgiving to be exact, and we finally used the washer and the water line was NOT connected to the outflow drain! Fortunately, our water sensor alarm went off (SimpliSafe, we have multiple sensors). By the time I was able to pull the plug, we had a mini-flood but damage was contained to a bit of wet carpet because we quickly used our blankets and towels, and the laundry facility is above the carport.

When I moved the dryer to dry up behind, I noticed that the dryer vent was not hooked up at all. The builder's cover over the vent was still intact, so it was obvious that Manteo's delivery people dropped it off in place and left.

I alerted the builder on Thanksgiving who called Manteo next day. I also called, and the service person came and resolved. The service person was excellent, but Manteo gets 1* for install and not following...

Manteo furniture & appliance was incompetent and extremely rude to us. We have been attempting to get our refrigerator fixed for an entire month. Four weeks ago, a repair person came out and did a diagnostic, which cost $90. They told us to call them back and leave a message whether or not to order the part, which we did. Since then, we’ve called 2-3 times a week and even went into their office last Friday to ask about when they will install the part. Today, we finally had an appointment, which we assumed was to install the part, but they went to the wrong address! Later they came to the correct address. However, the repair man said he threw the work order out because no one ever told him to order the part, and it would take another week at least to order it. Why even come out without the part?!?! They must have extreme communication problems at this business, considering how many times we’ve called and actually visited. He drove off refusing to speak anymore on the matter, and implied we are just ‘vacationers, so probably wouldn’t even be here in a week. We are definitely going elsewhere, and just wished we hadn’t waited a month with rotting food in the meantime. We certainly do not trust that this company will actually order the part, much less install it correctly. With poor practices like these, I can’t believe this place is still in business. Save yourself some headaches, and call...

What a total disappointment! Drove all the way from Corolla in search of a new dining room set. Had never been in before and other reviews were great, so figured it was worth the trip. The guys up front near the appliance section barely stopped their private convo long enough to ask if we needed help. After saying I was looking for a dining set, one of them said “follow the ramp up and someone up there can help”. Sure, that is pretty welcoming. Followed the ramp up around the maze and finally found what I was looking for. Walked past multiple “sales people” and not a single one greeted us or asked if we needed any help. Helped ourselves looking at the different options. The selection is rather large and pricing was comparable to other local places, it’s a shame that not a single worker ever came over to ask if we were interested. We decided to leave after that! Passed a few other “sales people”, all of them sitting down at their desks with their faces in their computers. I guess they don’t need the sales!! I will take my business to the smaller furniture stores with a smaller selection because at least their customer service is top notch. Will not recommend Manteo furniture to any of our owner friends on our end of the island, it sure wasn’t...
