Kill Devil Rum — Local services in Manteo

Okay, so I don't consider myself a spirits connoisseur, but I know my way around some rum. Kill Devil Rum is unlike any rum that I've ever had the pleasure of gracing my lips.. First , they have a free tasting of all their delicious rums. The Silver rum is the absolute smoothest rum that literally glides down the pallet like a butterfly in the spring breeze. Second, the Pecan rum is a beautiful mixture of sweetness like puppy kisses and warmth like grandma's hug at Christmas. Third, they have cocktails?! What! You can sample all the rums and shop cool merchandise, then mosey on over to the bar and have specialty hand crafted cocktails, something for every fancy!

Also, side note, the shipwreck series they had today (4/2021) was probably the best rum I've ever had. It's aged in smokey bourbon barrels so it tastes like a mix of smooth spiced rum with oakey...

Definitely one of the highlights of my trip. The staff were all phenomenal but special shout out to Jamie for not only sharing her work playlist with me (it absolutely slaps) but also being such an intelligent and articulate light in these wild times we find ourselves living in. The liquor was fantastic. Strong and smooth the way a good rum should be. We appreciated the samples and also the well-crafted cocktails available. I personally liked the honey badger myself, but nobody out of our group of four had a drink they wouldn't order again. If the drinks aren't your jam, the rum balls and candied pecans were sweet little treats I think anybody would enjoy. The location is beautiful - full of old lore and local history. Amazing experience! A tour was taking place when we arrived, so we hung out in the store section while we waited for the tour to end and the bar to open. Staff was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. While waiting, we were offered free tastings of the four different rums, and the staff shared excellent advice as to what cocktails can be best made out of each. Tour ends, bar opens--tried out some of the cocktails recommended and we were blown away! The cocktails were delicious and fun to watch in the making. The staff have an obvious passion for the business and were forthcoming with tips and tricks for the best cocktails and recipes. This will be my #1 recommendation to all (rum-drinking) visitors of...
