Great place for family with kids. There is no direct wave to the shore, a rock wall create a small pond like structure which makes it safe place for calm water activity.
My 2 year old could walk about 10 feet in the water and could stand and play (while he was supporting me as it was too wavy for me to stand still.. lol)
Sand is soft and water is shallow. Good spot for practicing your snorkeling skills. There aren’t many parking spot, about 10ish only. The restroom was dirty, something I cannot unsee.
While you are driving towards the park, you will find places where people have parked, find a spot for yourself as well to setup your own little beach. Only thing you will get on the beach is shower, but if you are not keen just skip the park altogether in favor of road...
Read moreVisited Kalaopepo beach park in May 2024 with my partner when we stayed in Kihie. Its beautiful beach park area, golden sand beach nice grassy area for pic-nics, with superb views of west Maui and the other islands. The beach isn't usually busy so parking shouldn't be an issue, there is showers and porta potty's. The Kalepolepo beach park makes for lovely walks specially at sunset. Its also not far from eateries and shops in Kihie and other beach parks in the Kihie area. The sea was calm when we were there so good for kids snorkeling etc, saw locals fishing and wind surfing. There is a chance you may see green sea turtles, find seashell. I highly recommend visiting Kalepolepo beach park even if it's just for a sunset walk. Steve and...
Read moreThis small kine beach park has limited parking, but you can park next door at Menehune Shores Resort. This is a well maintained ancient Hawaiian Fish Pond. Hawaiian Culture is taught to school groups on field trips often. Also a Maui canoe paddling club meets here often too. Turtles are seen sleeping on the beach or on the rocks! But, don’t be a “I could care less!” tourist, who tries to disregard the posted caution / warning signs! The beach and water is perfect for families with kids. The water is shallow, and there is a stone barrier to keep the Alpha Male Orcas outside. Please do not touch this rock wall! There is a picnic area and...
