I am rating only the unit in which we stayed, which was #324 in the Plumeria Building. This unit was impeccably clean and had just about everything you might need including beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, boogie boards, etc. You'll need to get staples like condiments and spices if you plan to do much cooking though. All the towels and bedding smelled so good and clean. The king bed is comfortable, but a bit too soft, which made us a bit sore when getting up in the morning . It also made a slightly alarming sound any time we got in or out, like a spring or part of the frame was jacked. But honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal at all and never caused any issues. The unit is small but cozy for a couple. The kitchen is very nice with many plates, utensils, cups & glasses, bowls for food and mixing in, etc. Fridge has an ice maker that works well. The balcony in this unit faces northwest and the inside of the complex. The view is of the ocean, pool, grassy areas, etc and it's a really beautiful view. This unit does not get sun on the balcony which is PERFECT. Some units face the opposite way and they get full-on sun on their balconies from morning to sunset. I would not have enjoyed that at all. Way too hot and way too bright. Even in February it was so nice on our balcony night and day. There are two rockers and two stationary chairs on the balcony plus a small side table. The sliding door is a bit sticky to open but if you take your time and don't try to force it, it's fine. There is currently open parking and we literally never had a problem finding parking right outside by the entrance (peak season). The elevators were never a long wait and the people staying in the complex were all really nice. Lots of people used the gas grills and it always smells amazing!! The grounds are kept absolutely gorgeous. The complex is not really within walking distance of much, but if you have a rental car, it's an awesome central location to all of Maui. This unit was managed by VIP (Valley Isle Properties) and they were easy and nice to work with. If we were ever to come back to Maui, we would absolutely book here again.

This was the most disgusting condo I have ever stayed in. We arrived and found 2 dead cockroaches and a very dirty shower. The shower had algae at the drain probably because the maids did not clean and remove the hair from the grate. Do not stay here if you are a VI resort member because it is third party managed and they cannot help you when things go wrong. They did refund the stay for pts but we called management twice and were told that it’s a tropical environment so cockroaches were normal. I’ve been to Hawaii over 8 times and never seen one in a condo before. We decided to try and brave it out but as soon as we turned off the light we heard and saw several scuttling around. Absolutely horrifying and disgusting. We were so traumatized we packed up and left - leaving all our groceries and had to stay at a different hotel which last minute cost us $300 a night! Luckily we only had 2 nights in Maui. This was in May 2023 and I doubt it has improved. If you hate cockroaches don’t stay here. Shame because it’s a beautiful beach/great location and we had a lovely bbq with a great sunset before the cockroaches came out at night.

We stayed here on a recent visit and were quite happy with it. Although Kihei is not our favourite part of the island to stay in this was a nice location and we would certainly stay again. We rented through Air BnB and had a two King bedroom with 2 bath condo right by the pool on the ground floor. At first I was a little concerned about being SO close to the pool but it turns out that the condo was pretty well sound proofed and also this is a very quiet property overall so we never really heard much of anything from the pool. Also we were grateful that the owners of our unit had planted bushes and shrubs in front of their lanai which made it feel more private even though it was on the ground floor and right by the pool. We enjoyed our breakfasts out there every morning and usually a drink at night and never felt awkward. Our unit was basically clean although not as clean as I would ultimately like and did need some upgrading. However, the appliances were new, beds were comfortable, and the owners were very responsive. One downside of this property is that laundry is paid and shared and while we were there they were actually doing construction so there was no laundry at all in our building. The construction also didn’t look nice at all to walk in to but hopefully whatever they are doing will make the property even better. We enjoyed the big expanse of lawn and the steps away from the beach. It is not a swimming beach but it’s still nice for a walk or run or some yoga or just sitting and enjoying watching the sunset or the waves roll in. One morning we found a huge snail hanging out on the lawn and every morning we were woken up to beautiful bird song and usually visits from several birds while we ate breakfast. The pool is nice although we never really used it. We hopped in once for a quick dip but there are so many beaches and so much to do that we didn’t have any real need for a pool. I do like the whale murals in the pool though. I noticed a few young families over the week and think it would be a great location and option for young families. It was also great for us as couples since we each had our own space in our condo. Despite this being in Kihie and off a pretty busy street we actually did not hear much noise at all which was very nice as we always look for quiet...

I recently stayed at Kauhale Makai Resort. The grounds are nice and maintained well. Front desk check-in lady was very polite. This is the second time I have stayed at this resort. The resort has elevators, which is a huge plus when you have luggage. The beach is easy to get to and very close. The resort has laundry facilities on each floor, that costs $2.50 a wash and $1.50 to dry.||This was my third trip to Maui and I like this resort because it is so conveniently located. You are close to Hana Highway, so about 15 minutes from the Ocean Center and about 15 minutes to Wailea. Lahaina is about 30 minutes or so away. It was just plain convenient to everything. You have three grocery stores nearby as well as Long’s Drug Store.||This resort has two buildings. This time, I stayed in the northern building in condo 310. This condo is close to the elevator and laundry room. Getting into the condo was not intuitive. There is a key in an old lock box. You have to really press in the code slowly and getting the cover back on is tricky.||This condo is very similar to the one I stayed in on my previous trip to Maui. The condo has a north west view of the parking lot with an ocean view in the distance. It isn’t a bad view, but last time, I had a condo overlooking the pool and more of an ocean view.||This condo has all the basics and an updated shower. It does have a hairdryer. The toilet has issues and after reading a review on this condo, I was able to fix the issue. Which is to manually flush the toilet by taking the lid off of the tank. The condo is decorated with a Hawaiian theme.||If you arrive late in the day, I would stop off to get coffee and breakfast items. There is not much in the kitchen as far as supplies. At the time we left, there was foil and plastic wrap. Some spices and sugar cubes. We were given one roll of paper towels and two rolls of toilet paper. Dish soap/hand soap and sponge provided. The owner was receptive to questions via text.||I learned late in the trip that there is a beach umbrella in the closet.||The condo was clean, but worn. It suited our purposes and the price was right.||Maui Ono donut truck is close and the best donuts I have ever had. My daughter gave two thumbs up to the gluten free cinnamon roll at the...

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. We stayed here May 27-Jun 2 at Kauhale Makai by Maui Condo and Home. Im writing this to warn everyone how disgusting this place can be. We walked in the 1st day, the receptionist was very nice and very informative with where to find our room, the code and pool. That’s about the last positive thing I can say about this place. Our room smelled like an old grandparent’s place where they havnt cleaned in months. It just smelled “OLD” and dusty. Every counter, every surface was so dusty. ITS LIKE THIS PLACE WAS NOT TOUCHED IN YEARS. The A/C vent was full of molds and apliances were ones you would find in the 1980s, like old vacuums and old blender. They had a VCR and a DVD player. That’s cool and retro and not up to date. Our child played in the curtains for just one second and he was full of dust when he came out. I swiped my hand over the curtains and had dust on my fingers. There is someone’s hair left on the certain of the shower. ||After complaining to the manager. They agreed to cleaning up the place. But not until the next day. So we had to sleep in this dusty old looking place over night before they addressed the problem. ||The next morning, two people came and started cleaning up the place. They did removed the old smell by straying disinfectant everywhere and wiping the surfaces and sweeping the porch, but the dust was still there. I pointed out the dirty A/C vent and they said its mold and they couldn’t do anything about it. WOW. UNBELIEVABLE. That’s how you treat your guest. What is funny was that their ad shows they do enhance cleaning. Ya….right enhance cleaning||After complaining to management again. He offered to give us a refund for the remaining days or deep clean the room, which would take two days. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE READY BEFORE WE ARRIVE. But the problems was, its hard to find a descent place at a good price in MAUI that day. It was too stressful and too much of a hassle to go through that and we already spent a lot on this trip. We sucked it up and stayed the rest of the time in this place. But that does mean this place does suck. I will no longer consider staying at hotels and motels. Ill be going pure AirBnB...
