Find another company to rent from. We were bullied and blackmailed. This is how: On Apr 11, 2023 we booked KBM Resorts VIR-508, for an Oct 2023 stay in Maui. Wanting to be respectful of those affected by the tragic fires in Lahaina we called KBM to inquire about our reservation a few weeks after the fire. We were ready to postpone our trip or find another property where we could stay. Yet we were assured the reservation was still in place and that they were basically ready for our arrival several weeks away. Two days prior to our reservation date, we received an email from KBM Resorts stating our rental was ready for our arrival. However, we discovered that it indeed was not ready. The first thing we noticed was the Murphy bed was moved from the wall it was on in the pictures we saw. It was placed against the sliding glass door blocking half of the amazing ocean view. As we began to get settled the list of disappointments grew: broken full-size fridge/freezer replaced with one 1/2 the size 2 sets of outlets in the kitchen not working Garbage disposal not working 2 of the 3 TVs not working Toilet in 2nd bathroom ran continuously Glass shower door in 2nd bathroom didn’t close Ceiling tile in a closet hanging down No beach chairs (website stated they’d be supplied) No beach umbrella (website stated it would be supplied) filthy floors under the sectional that had to be moved to pull down the Murphy bed. On the website it states: “Your KBM Resorts villa is delivered clean, safe, and sanitized for your enjoyment.” We did not experience that. We would have been able to look past most of these disappointing issues had it not been for what happened next. Two of us started to pull down the Murphy bed because there was a sign on the bed stating it was heavy. As we slowly started pulling it down we felt the WEIGHT OF THE ENTIRE BED & FRAME FALLING ON US! We were able to catch it and thankfully not get hurt as we pushed it back against the glass wall. Needless to say it wasn’t anchored to anything. We were able to get a roll-away an hour after calling the after-hours number. The next morning the facility lead came by to check in. After going over the list of issues he asked us to write everything down and told us that he’d be back later with a team of people to work on everything-prioritizing anchoring the murphy bed into a wall. The majority of the issues were taken care of with the exception of the shower door latching/staying shut and the garbage disposal. The lead facility guy told us we’d be contacted by someone soon and if we were nice she’d take good care of us. Days went by, and we heard nothing. We reached out several times via email to several different people, but to no avail. We were finally contacted by Guest Experience Ambassador Christina two days before our departure. Christina stated that they decided two nights at half price was acceptable compensation. My sister reminded her that the ENTIRE Murphy bed fell toward us and could have seriously injured us. Her response was basically “but it didn’t. You’re ok.” After some back & forth, and shock at the lack of customer service, we verbally agreed to the minimal compensation saying we’d make sure to leave an honest review. Christina replied, “Oh, no. That’s part of the contract that you’ll need to sign. If you want the compensation you agree to not post any negative reviews on social media.” We told Christina we don’t stand for being bullied and blackmailed and ended the call. We thoroughly read reviews prior to making our decision to book this villa and were surprised that we hadn’t read any negative reviews. We assume we now know why. Needless to say, we forewent the minimum compensation to not let a bully succeed and to share our experience in hopes of it saving someone else the headache and disappointment. The response below from the company is laughable and void of any customer service. We’ve tried reaching out to the company at least a dozen times and they have...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at maybe a dozen condos up and down the coast of West Maui over the years. This unit is a good choice, and we can say that we recommend it highly. Here's why, and some other things you will want to know in order to be prepared. Floorplan- One bedroom, huge living room, massive massive bathroom and shower. Kitchen is small but functional, there was ICE already in the freezer which was Awesome. Kitchen: One negative the Vent Fan wasnt strong enough to keep up but we made do. My wife is a fitness competitor so she is strict carnivore diet girl, we were unable to cook steak, bacon etc due to the fan, but I am sure it will be fixed. The rest of the kitchen was 10/10, dishwasher was large and worked well, full size fridge etc...8/10 overall.Living Room: Big TV with all the apps, couch was so comfy we wanted to bring it home. AC was terrific 10/10Bedroom: Bedroom got a bit warm, but we moved the fan (provided) into the bedroom and it was great. No problem. Bed was a King and comfortable. Linens were fine, lots of space for storage 8/10 overall.Bathroom: Huge, Massive, BIG, well lit, shower was the best ever, this was a great surprise on how great it was 10/10Lanai: Small table with chairs, two lounges, great view, near the Kapalua Trail but far enough away people aren't looking in. Beach is 100 yards or less in either direction. 9/10Location: Very safe, not central but not far from everything. Very high end area, not far from our favorite grocery store, Napili Market, and very close the Honolua Store which has an incredible deli, don't miss it. 9/10Beaches: This unit is near Dragons Teeth, not on the beach BUT, we enjoyed starting the day at Napili Bay, then we moved to Kapalua Bay, then moved to Oneloa Bay (where we were the ONLY people on the beach) then on to finish the day at Fleming Beach at the Ritz. All walking distance, up and down the Kapalua Trail. Now, that was Perfect, so beaches we are going with a 9/10.Other TIPS: It has a dehumidifier in the room, which kept the room cool, a Tip you have to empty it every day but its no issue. Cell Service, there is none on ATT or TMobile, so we had to use Wifi Calling. Be prepared for that, it wasnt just our unit, cell service is not good in that part of Maui, Wifi calling is easy. You do lose wifi when you go outside on the lanai, so I travel with a wifi extender which gives you more coverage. They do provide a fan for the bedroom and that worked out great. Each of the ceiling fans work really well also. THIS IS IMPORTANT the door locks automatically when you walk outside so don't forget to take the code with you : ) it makes it even more safe, but keep the code handy. The chairs boards and other beach stuff is in the closet and thats a great touch. Overall, this is a until I would actually consider buying, which says a lot. The management team was easy to reach, parking is terrific and overall this is a...
Read moreMy family stayed at Kapalua Bay Villas, KBV-14G4 in August 2025 for one week and it was truly one of the most memorable vacation experiences I’ve had on Maui. The villa is beautifully situated above Oneloa Bay, offering stunning panoramic views of the ocean from all rooms and lanais facing the ocean. The unit itself was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, if only it was easy to copy and paste the style here to my own home! There is plenty of space, indoors and outdoors, providing our family of four, including two grown children and their friend enough room to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for preparing meals, and having in-unit laundry was a huge bonus to go home with clean clothes after our amazing vacation. The air-conditioning worked great (though the breeze in the evening often made it unnecessary), beds were so comfortable - we all slept so soundly through the nights! The location is really what sets this unit apart. Being steps away from the Kapalua Coastal Trail, making for beautiful morning walks, within walking distance to several beaches, including Kapalua Bay for snorkeling straight from the beach and DT Fleming. The property grounds are beautifully maintained with polite grounds staff that wave as they drive around in their carts. With access to three pools on site we only made it to one of the pools, which was quiet and so enjoyable at the end of the evening. We used the BBQ area for dinner and the view while grilling was just top notch. We grilled while the rest of the family lounged in the pool. Being on the ground floor you have easy access to walk over to the pool which is quite literally steps away but you might occasionally hear guests above or conversing on their lanai. Guests near us were kind and respectful, and the layout of the units afforded privacy with walls of foliage and fencing on each lanai. Lovely to watch the many birds and geckos come through! Overall amazing environment over a hotel where you’re stacked. You definitely won’t be disappointed. Perfect for couples or families looking to relax. Overall, this unit exceeded my expectations. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, scenic, and luxurious escape...
