Wish we could write a good review, however, feel it imperative to leave an honest, unfortunately unpleasant experience. We booked a home through VRBO in late December/early January for the last week of April into the first of May. Very excited for the location, accommodations and reviews of other's experiences. After having paid the vacation in full, as well as made all the other necessary arrangements, flights, car, dogs etc, we received a phone call directly from Maui Life Realty in mid-February informing us "owners of the property have double-booked the home over the dates we had selected" and that we would have the options of moving the dates before/aft or consider staying at a different property. Option of moving the dates for the same property was off the table having small children and school obligations, as well as fees associated with adjusting all aforementioned coinciding reservations. We were left with two other options: 1. A home that was not even close to the caliber/location of what was paid for, or 2. A much smaller condo then the home we had paid for. The Maui Life representative went through a long spiel of how the condo was a 'significant upgrade' and how he would be 'doing us a favor by giving us a 10% discount on the rate'... While considering the condo as a possible option, we looked to see what the current rates were for this condo. Finding that the condo was significantly less than what we paid for the now unavailable home!!! Asked the rep to help us understand how we are being taken care of for their scheduling mishap, to be informed, 'what you are seeing on our website is wrong' adding via a text message prices for the condo that were supposedly 'accurate'. However the dates included with the text image were for July!!! After 3 errors with scheduling and pricing, we politely asked for a refund. After requesting a refund, we received a call from this same Maui Life Realty representative who angrily barked, 'I'm trying to help you'!!! Everyone makes mistakes, part of life for us all, however; when spending north of $10,000 on a vacation that is planned months in advance and the booking company 1. cannot manage a calendar 2. admits their website/marketing is not accurate 3. berates us for not accepting a lesser package for the premium price we had already paid in full; we elected to take our business...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience! Stayed in Papakea Resort managed by Maui Life Realty and it was just awesome. I was there with my husband and our son shortly after our wedding. It was a lovely honeymoon experience. The place was absolutely spotless, updated and fresh. The grounds are pristine and offer everything one would need for a serene vacation.
We were in the oceanfront unit and nothing can beat sleeping 7 nights in a row with the balcony wide open and the waves crushing the shore literally right next to your doorstep (20 or so yards away!). The kitchen and living room were just what I needed.
The kitchen had everything I need being a home chef, including a brand new coffee grinder (pre-ground coffee stays drinkable for just 3-5 minutes, so I always buy whole bean coffee).
Having a washer and a dryer in unit was super helpful, especially when you have a 4 yo kid. Thank you for that!
My husband and our son were really enjoying either of two hot tubs or pools on the grounds while I was riding the waves. It's very nice of the landlord to provide a couple of boogie boards.
The place is located perfectly for a very early morning rise before the sun, have a little exercise session by the water and have a little barefoot walk (1-2 minutes) on the grass toward the sand beach to greet the first rays of sun, to greet the ocean and take a morning dip right before the sun shows up.
The staff is very friendly and ready to help and answer your questions. Our landlord Christian was extremely helpful and quick to reply.
P.S. We were able to book the place literally on the spot and it took us 10 minutes from the moment we booked the place on Airbnb to the moment we got to the door...
Read moreWe have rented a lot of VRBOs. This property BY FAR blew all the others out of the water! Not only is it beautiful and so well remodeled, but it had all the things that made our stay so easy, from a fully stocked spice drawer and condiments, oils, etc. in the pantry (how dreamy is that for cooking for 8 people!), all the appliances possible, all the beach toys and chairs we needed including umbrellas which my fair skin appreciated, even a wagon to haul everything to the beach! The location is directly across the highway from the resort area and beaches and easily walkable. Starbucks is 10 minutes on foot. We drove to the beaches solely because we were dragging toys with us and there are several parking lots nearby that made this super easy. The pool at the house is smaller than it looks online (it's a narrow lap pool), but that was just fine with us! BBQ, dining and lots of seating on the west-facing backyard patio which is pretty much where we spent all out time. Sunsets are beautiful from the back! And since it's Maui, pretty much everything else you could want is within a short drive. Lahaina is slowly coming back to life and we had no shortage of local flavor, which is our preferred way to travel. The management company was in daily contact and we knew if we ever needed anything at all, they would come right over. Thank you Kanaapali Home for making out family vacation amazing and...
