We did the West Maui Half Day Snorkel from Ka’anapali Beach and it was perfect. Everything was great.
Here is what you need to know before you go: What to bring: You can bring whatever you want, there is a dry place to store it but I think I brought way too much. Here is what I would have brought knowing what I know now. I would not have brought a towel. Was super warm and didn't use the towel at all. But the things I brought that I'm glad I had was my underwater camera (they do have a photographer that will take photos for you and email them to you for a fee though), sunglasses, a hair comb and hair band to secure my hair. I wish I would have had a rash guard.
Getting on the boat you will get wet up to the knee, they take your shoes for the ride and return them to you at the end. Entering the boat is easy, it's a stairway that extends into the water at the beach.
They serve you breakfast almost immediately. We sat outside up top and it was super hard to eat the breakfast in the wind and hold on to all the bits. I would recommend going below deck to eat. People move about the boat the whole trip so you won't sit in the same place the whole time. Most of the places you sit are great anyway... so don't worry about losing your spot.
Breakfast was bacon, sausage, eggs and rice. Surprisingly good actually. They have pop and water for free on board and alcohol for purchase. We took a ride to the snorkel place. I'm no snorkel expert, I've only done it in Mexico, Miami and here. This was my second favorite spot ranking it. I saw lots of different fish, a spotted eagle ray, several turtles and briefly a small shark maybe 3-4 feet long. (harmless to human kind). The coral wasn't as colorful as it was in Mexico so that's why I ranked it my second favorite spot... but wide open lots of area to spread out and it was nice. The equipment I was given was great and fit well.
Then we went to place #2 to snorkel and lunch was served. It was buffet style. There was a salad, macaroni salad, chicken, rice and rolls.
The second snorkel place wasn't quite as populated with fish as the first and a lot of people chose to grab a floatie and drink their beverages and relax in the cool water instead of snorkel. It was kind of do what interests you for this second one.
Back on the boat, we headed back home... we got cookies and a lot of sun. They also let the sail out on this part.
I enjoyed sitting up top both in the seats that had tables AND in the webbing part in the bean bag chairs. I got sunburnt bad. they do have sunscreen on board and I reapplied two to three times, clearly not enough. Don't be like me......

Our family of five recently embarked on the West Maui Half Day Snorkel Adventure with Sea Maui, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. With three kids in tow, we spent nearly five hours on the pristine waters of Maui, visiting two incredible snorkel spots: Honolua Bay and Namalu Bay.
From the moment we stepped on board, we were greeted with warm aloha spirit. Tommy and Nava, our guides for the day, were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ensuring our family was comfortable and well taken care of. They were attentive to our every need, from adjusting our snorkel gear to making sure we had drinks in hand at all times from the open bar, which offered a great variety of beverages.
The snorkeling itself was phenomenal. At Honolua Bay and Namalu Bay, we were treated to an underwater paradise. We saw an astonishing array of colorful fish and were thrilled to swim alongside numerous sea turtles. The kids were particularly enchanted by the vibrant marine life and the clear, warm waters.
The food on board was another highlight. For breakfast, we enjoyed a delicious spread of eggs, sausage, and rice, setting us up perfectly for our morning adventure. Lunch was equally satisfying, with tasty chicken, pasta salad, caesar salad, and fresh rolls. Every bite was delicious and the perfect fuel for our active day.
A special shout-out goes to Emily, the on-board photographer, who did a fantastic job capturing our memories. We opted for the photo package, which was roughly $150 for all the pictures, and it was worth every penny. Emily was proactive and friendly, making sure to capture plenty of great shots of our family throughout the trip. If you let her know at the beginning that you want photos, you'll get an impressive collection to remember your adventure.
Overall, the service was top-notch, the snorkeling spots were breathtaking, and the food was superb. We couldn't have asked for a better day on the water. We highly recommend the West Maui Half Day Snorkel Adventure with Sea Maui, and we can't wait to do it again on our next visit to Maui. It was an experience our family will...
Read moreThe Perfect Ending to Our Honeymoon We couldn’t have imagined a better way to end our honeymoon. We booked this sunset sail for our final evening on Maui, and it was absolutely unforgettable.
While parking is available at Whalers Village (and validated by the crew), we opted to walk over from our resort, which made for an easy and scenic start to the evening. After a quick check-in and safety briefing, we were ready to board. Just a heads-up: boarding happens directly from the beach into the water, so wear shorts or be prepared to lift your dress!
From the moment we stepped onto the vessel, the crew — Quinn, Carrie, and Ben — made us feel completely taken care of. They were warm, fun, professional, and incredibly attentive. Whether ensuring everyone’s safety or helping us enjoy the open bar to the fullest, their energy really elevated the entire experience. My husband kept commenting on how exceptional the service was — and he’s not easy to impress!
The boat itself was in great condition and noticeably less crowded than the other vessels we saw on the water. There was plenty of space to move around, with both sunny and shaded seating options, and the beanbags added a playful touch for both couples and families.
The views were absolutely breathtaking, made even more magical by live music from Tim McDill, whose performance added a special, intimate feel to the sail. The entire atmosphere was calm, romantic, and joyful — just what we needed after weeks of wedding chaos.
The open bar offered a good variety of drinks, and the food exceeded our expectations. While it’s not a fine dining experience, it was fresh, tasty, and exactly what you want on a sunset cruise.
Huge thanks to the entire Sea Maui crew for making our last night on the island so special. It was the perfect way to close out an incredible trip — we’ll be reminiscing about it for...
