Maui Eldorado Kaanapali: This is our sixth time in Hawaii together. Second time on Maui First time staying was 4 years ago in July 2019.
Valorie and Kai are two of the friendliest staff:
Paid 3.5 star price. Got 2.2 star accommodation K112. The room was clean but dated. That’s the overall look as I perceive it. Upon check in Communication was good. We received notice that sometimes Internet is spotty so we had an alternate. This particular room’s Internet completely went out the last two days. One T.V. Looks to be about a 28-30 inch very small.
The positives. Can bring your own food like every other room. There’s a huge shuffleboard area, 2 smaller pools to layout on. 1 large pool with hot tub. The grilling eating area is has dim lighting. Can barely see what you’re eating after dark. The cabanas restroom facilities, chairs, lounge, chairs, refrigerator sink. Towels and a fresh water shower area.
Arrival June 7, Wednesday: Staff Valorie is very friendly at Check in. Room is dated but doable
June 8 ,Thursday: Covered pound cake from Costco left out on kitchen counter is covered in gnats/ ants
Informed Staff about Airconditioner, A maintenance technician came and we informed him about bugs, I requested We get sprayed or get bug spray, I was told Solution is to keep the doors closed. For the air conditioner. Sensor. We already had done that. We were also told that the bugs get sprayed a week before new guest arrive. On Mondays.
Friday, June 9 ,no issues. This morning Threw away a roach that was upside down in the kitchen. I assumed that was for from the pesticide. So maybe it worked.
Saturday June 10, I emailed owner, and informed the staff about the bugs again. We left a knife on the stove for 90 minutes while we went to the grilling area and Visited with family on Saturday night. Came back and those same small bugs were all over the stove. I requested that the accommodations gets sprayed or get some bug spray tonight. Or Sunday. I was informed nothing could be accomplished until Monday. I messaged the owner through VRBO The owner told me to keep the door closed during the sunset. And to not leave food out. Wether is covered or not. Therefore, I cannot even leave cereal outside of the refrigerator.
June 11, Sunday: the staff Kai comes to inspect. Informed that we will not be bug sprayed until Tuesday. Monday is a holiday.
June 12 Monday. While we went snorkeling. Someone came and sprayed the areas. I should be thankful that no bugs were in the bedrooms are on the bed.
Asked Valorie at the front desk about the pool lighting not being operational. And you could not see anyone while swimming at night. In the pool. Which creates a safety issue for guest.
June 13 Tuesday. Enjoyed a beautiful Sunset then the kids enjoyed a safe night swim. At the pool area.
June 15 Thursday. We were given a Check at out at 10:00 should have been 11:00 at Check In.
Overall. Our accommodations were average and less than when compared to the rooms that our other family members booked during this time. I was a little jealous. Apparently some of those rooms have been remodeled and updated. which look very clean and refreshing. Again, the downer for me was, I could not mentally get over the bugs, and was just thankful that it was not in my luggage or clothes. If Springhill suites, or the Marriott or the Hyatt I would’ve gotten another room immediately. The gym / fitness center is nice has several cardio piece of equipment, spin cycle, rogue, spin cycle, treadmill, elliptical, rogue weight rack, two barbells, and various dumbbells. iIt looks pretty clean and sanitary.
The cabana have shortened hours. Are only open from 9:30 AM until 5:30 PM. Sunrise is around 5:45 AM.
The Golf cart ride to the cabana is fun. If you try and get a ride down from the front desk in the earlier than 9:30 AM, they will quickly tell you not until 9:30. My Sister in law asked 20 minutes...
Read moreThe Maui Eldorado was a great choice for our family of four (with two older teen girls). Our unit was a one bedroom, two bathroom on the bottom floor in K building near the office and parking lot and a short walk to the main pool. We did not hear any road noise. ||We did book through a local property management company and chose our unit. The condo was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was small though functional. We mostly used the fridge, microwave, toaster and dishwasher. The unit was well stocked with many dishes, cutlery, garbage bags, soap, paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent. ||The bedroom was large with two comfortable queen beds topped with many pillows and the two full bathrooms were fantastic with having older teens. We especially liked the mirror and sink area being separate from the shower and toilet which meant all four of us could get ready in some capacity at the same time. Made a huge difference from a regular hotel room. The unit also had lots of closet and drawer space and enough room for all of us. There is no cleaning service during the stay though the unit had ample towels, more than we needed. Separate beach towels were also provided. The washer and dryer were appreciated, worked well and used a couple of times. ||The patio area has no view but was secluded and fairly private. It had both a table and chairs for dining as well as two loungers and a pull down shade to block out the hot sun in the afternoon. There were also three beach chairs and a boogie board provided in the chest on the patio. ||The grounds were beautiful and well kept with lots of trees and flowers. We only used the main pool (there were two others on the property) but were in the pool almost daily. The pool was clean, heated and good for families with shallow and deeper areas. There were also a few umbrellas for shade and a shaded pavilion with tables and chairs as well as bathrooms. The loungers were padded, though the coverings have seen better days and several need to be replaced due to stains or rips. The pool was above the parking garage and there were views of the golf course and distant views of the ocean. The hot tub never had a consistent temperature - it was either very cool or way too hot, not really useable. It also did not look inviting. We did not use the barbecue area though many did and the barbecues looked well cleaned and easy to use. | |The location of the Maui Eldorado was fantastic. A small shopping area was nearby walking distance with a general store, coffee shop, pizza place, Chinese restaurant and a fine dining restaurant. It was also an easy walk to Whaler’s Village through the grounds at the Sheraton to the other side of Black Rock on to the beach boardwalk. We saw beautiful sunsets on the walk and ate great meals at both Hula Grill and Leilani’s. It was nice to be able to have a few drinks and walk home. ||The best amenity provided at the Maui Eldorado is the beach cabana. Though it was a 10 minute walk from the condo to the beach, you did not have to lug all of your beach gear. You are able to sign out beach chairs and towels at the cabana. There is also a fridge to keep your food and waters as well as lounge chairs that stay on the deck of the cabana. If you are not fond of the walk, you can get a golf cart ride both to and from the cabana. ||The beach was beautiful with soft sand and the water was clear, with a sandy bottom. There was good wave action the days we were there which was perfect for body surfing. Decent low key snorkelling to the left at the lava rocks where turtles liked to hang out. Even without snorkelling, we saw a couple of turtles swim by almost every day and once when we were in the water a monk seal swam on by!)| |The Maui Eldorado is a great place for a tropical family vacation. We would stay here again. Next time I would book farther in advance for a unit on the second...
Read moreI am so disappointed in our stay at this place. Upon arrival I was told that I need to pay 165.00 cleaning fee. This was not discussed during my booking, so I am definitely not feeling paying for this cleaning fee. The guy at the front desk said he has to speak to his manager. He called someone and was told we must pay. My husband asked to speak to the manager and he says she’s off that he called her on her cell phone. My husband asked for her number and the guy gives us Athena number but proceeded to say oh she’s off tomorrow. Mind you we flew over from Oahu to celebrate our Anniversary for two days. The next day I called and spoke with someone in the office they said her name was Merri, I told her I didn’t know anything about the fee. She asked if I had my itinerary, I said I would email it to her. She said she would call upon receiving it....that’s was 4 or 5 hours ago. I have sent her a couple of messages and still no word. Now back to our room, after receiving our key, we get to the room and of course now that they want a cleaning fee, I am checking everything thing out. Walking in and instantly we see do not open, stains in the carpet, on the walls. I will try to attached the pictures. If anyone is desiring to visit Maui, DO NOT STAY AT MAUI ELDORADO KAANAPALI by OUTRIGGER! I repeat DO NOT!
Update...... Finally received a call back from outrigger at 0900, letting me know that I must still pay the cleaning fee although it wasn’t in the itinerary. The customer service at Maui ELDORADO by outrigger was horrible! I read the reviews on this location prior to booking and thought this would be a good staycation. There is completely nothing to do there. They trick you into thinking you will get a complimentary breakfast if you sit in a brief. The breakfast was garbage, and the trips were overpriced. They were selling aquarium tickets 2 for 75.00. I went to the Aquarium myself showed my military ID and got 2 tickets for 48.00.
