The Snorkel Store — Attraction in Maui

My sister and I recently vacationed together and found ourselves on a hunt for snorkel gear rental. Our journey wasn't off to a great start. The first place, my usual go-to, unfortunately didn't have fins large enough to accommodate my feet. Our next stops only offered subpar customer service and a limited selection of gear.

However, our luck completely turned around when we arrived at The Snorkel Store.

Customer Service: From the moment we stepped through the door, we were welcomed warmly. The staff swiftly guided us through the process of fitting our gear, transforming what could have been a tedious process into a breeze. In under 7 minutes, we were fully equipped and ready to go!

Quality of Gear: The equipment provided was top-notch. We were particularly impressed by the masks that had superior seals compared to older types we've used, and the newly designed snorkels were a game-changer - no more issues with retained water if not blown out effectively.

Additional Support: Post our gear selection, the staff member who assisted us spent an extra 10 minutes outlining all the best snorkeling spots on a map, complete with tips on where to find free parking. We later contacted them for advice on stand-up paddle board providers, and they were more than happy to help.

Their commitment to customer satisfaction was clear; they truly understand the value of repeat business.

I can’t say enough about the store! From the first time we walked in to rent our snorkel gear to pretty much every day we’ve been here, we’ve utilized their knowledge and their free filtered water station (lol). Everyone in the store is friendly and helpful.

When we first rented our gear, the guy who got everything together for us spent a good 15 minutes before checking us out explaining all the good spots to go on a map, circling the areas in sharply and showing us where to park, etc, and giving us recommendations as to where to go for other activities such as surfing lessons. They also have a snorkel report which you can sign up for via email that tells you each morning where the best and safest spots to snorkel are. That has been invaluable to us.

We had two (minor) issues with our gear that, one of which was from my own fault and really just a lack of understanding how to use the gear, the other was when the clip attaching the snorkel and the goggles broke, both times all of the employees were quick to help and were completely understanding.

They also have the reef safe sunscreen in the store which was really important to us to use, and if you don’t wanna purchase it there, they tell you exactly which ingredients to look out for when you’re purchasing other sunscreens. My husband also purchased a rash guard there which has saved him from major sunburn while snorkeling (I had already brought one from home).

Truly a great store with everything you need, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and good prices! Can not recommend...

My husband and I went to Maui for our honeymoon. It was our first time in Maui, and we are so glad that we went to The Snorkel Store to rent our snorkelling equipment. One of the store employees, Jonathan, picked out our equipment and tested it out with us to make sure that we had the right sizes. He knew what size goggles/mouth pieces we would need just by looking at us and fitted us with appropriate flippers. The one-time rental was good for the duration of our stay! He provided lots of information about the different snorkelling areas and signed us up to receive daily reports on snorkelling conditions in the different areas. One day during the week, snorkelling conditions weren't favorable throughout, so we stopped in to talk to Jonathan for his expertise. He directed us to Baby Beach, where we swam with fish and a huge turtle, which swam right past us and came up to the surface for air (it was so cool!). We purchased an underwater dry bag from the store, and we used our phones to take videos and pictures of the fish and turtle. It was awesome!

In the store, there's a water dispenser (best tasting water) and you can fill up your water bottle as many times as you want, so make sure you stop by The Snorkel Store throughout the day, the week, and your stay! The return process was an easy, smooth process. We are not in Maui anymore, but we still receive the daily reports, and we are itching to go back soon! The next time we are in Maui, we will visit and rent from The Snorkel...
