Home Town Sports — Attraction in McCall

To paint the picture, I’ve purchased my previous ski boots on the cheap, not anywhere near MSRP. I’ve never been fitted and didn’t realize how important good fitting boots are to ski performance (not just what feels good). I scheduled a fitting time, and the experience was amazing. Dean has been doing a long time. He was very patient, listened to my concerns, answered questions and explained various mechanics of the foot as it pertains to skiing. Based on various measurements, he picked out a few boots and prioritized them for fitting. The second pair I tried on had a good initial fit as soon as I put them on. We decided on them and then the customization started. The heat molding, various mechanical adjustments for my stance and ankle inclination adjustment. Overall, I was very happy with the service, and communication was great throughout the process. The boots are quite a bit more money than I would normally spend on ski boots (not more than MSRP and not more than I was expecting), but the service and customization made the price worth it. The overall fitting was 2 hours. My new boots were a different sole length which required remounting the heels of the bindings on my skis, which they also did for a nominal fee (purchased skis and bindings elsewhere). We went into the shop to buy a new bike. They had a used 2018 bike that was similar to what we were looking for and they told us the price was $2500. We contemplated, rode it and then we decided to buy it after being there over 30 minutes. The two employees working with us where very competent and friendly. The two salesman talked to the owner on the phone. The owner raised the price to over 4100 because we were interested. It’s very frustrating. He didn’t even try to work with us and when we required to talk to him just moments after the first call we couldn’t talk to him. We've been using Home Town Sports for years but now that we've moved out of state only see them on our annual McCall ski trips to Brundage and Tamarack. I was recently in town and wanted to get a pair of skis waxed for the weekend so called to check their availability. Lauren was able to fit me in at 4pm and had them ready for pickup at 8:30am!
