While browsing around with my girlfriend in the store, another customer entered the store without a mask. I, the customer in the store, asked the other customer in as polite of tone as possible "do you have a mask that you can put on." They replied with "oh, no." In a respectful manor. I then turned to the employee working behind the counter and stated "I would like to buy them a mask" the customer declined and the employee said "don't worry, we're not going to kick them out". After that moment of negligence and ignorance of not following a simple public safety law my girlfriend and I left the store, very disappointed. Having this not be the first time we have been here and have such a positive experience before. Backcountry boutique has very nice stuff, but with the complete disregard of public safety I cannot condone shopping here, basing my decision on the evidence of the employee not upholding the mask wearing policy.

I am a nurse that works for St Luke's. I contracted covid-19 in October and have been symptom free since. My girlfriend is a COTA unfortunately got covid from me during that period. Since then she has been struggling with symptoms identical to POTS. This is real, this is not going away any time soon. Be safe and protect yourself by protecting others, wear a mask.

Edit 1/12/21 1824 After reading the response from the owner. I understand about medical issues and difficulties that occur with wearing a mask. The employee was wearing a mask, I recognize that I didn't state that initially. The problem laid with the customer, I will quote more of their statements. "We're more than 6 ft apart so it's fine.... The mask protects you, you know better come on." See above for my credibility. The mask is designed to protect others to limit the droplets out of the person who is utilizing the mask. Which is why there is a need for everyone to use a mask as to protect from the droplet transmission from this virus. As that customer desides to ignorantly state how the mask functions, common facial coverings excluding the utilization of N95, and respirators (these with proper fitment), it only solidified that person's level of understanding of how masks work. Being 6ft with each person wearing a mask is the effective measure not 6 ft without a mask. It was safe to reach the conclusion that this customer doesn't recognize the virus as something real. I'm not asking to ask everyone's medical background but if someone stats they have a medical condition that prohibits them from mask wearing, perhaps a proposal of accommodations for them without risks to the employees or other customers. Such as they shop to themselves with the employee completely in containment with adequate protection, properly fitted N95, and a complete plastic barricade to help ensure safety for the employee. After that customer leaves a recommended dwell time of sanitation throughout the store of everywhere they touched and removing the items that were touched and not purchased, removed for sanitation and place back once item is clean. Though this idea is not perfect, possibly something to look in the near future in taking step to protect everyone and carter to their shipping experience for the people not medically capable of wearing a mask.

Yes, I absolutely love that store, it's very nice, comfortable and inviting. This is just unfortunate with an active pandemic going on that I feel the obligation to give this...

We are in McCall often as our family has a place here and I have seen this store but never stopped in but finally did Monday. Wow! Was I missing out. The boutique is so inviting. It’s kinda tucked away but the sign is at eye / street level and easy to see. Don’t hesitate- just go in you won’t be sorry you did.

There is everything from fun and whimsical socks with stylish shoes or boots to up scale clothing and accessories. I loved the brands she Carries there some I’ve only been able to find online… until now. This place has bibles with beautiful hand made leather covers, inspirational books, signs, even some fun stuff for kiddo’s. I’d say if you are looking for just that right piece of clothing, accessory or some high quality purses/bags or outfit, even a unique gift for someone you need to stop in here! I certainly will come every time we are here to enhance my wardrobe and enjoy the friendly company of the employees. ( wish you had a second location in Boise...

The owners of Backcountry Boutique were our neighbors until we moved to Idaho then Missouri and they moved to Idaho. I’m so happy I found their Boutique on Facebook! I’ve placed two orders in a little over a month. 2 shirts and two pairs of shoes. With a little guidance from Mary, everything fits perfectly. I love the quality and the beautiful designs.
