Best Family Fishing Experience We've Ever Had - Captain John Delivered!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (If we could, we would give 10/5 stars)
I'm writing this review because I want other families to know about this amazing experience. As a mom traveling alone with my 13 and 20-year-old, I was nervous about booking an inshore charter since we'd only done deep sea fishing before. Captain John completely put my worries to rest.
The Experience from Start to Finish:
The booking process was incredibly smooth. Captain John reached out ahead of time with detailed directions to the marina, told us what fish we might expect to catch, and even asked if there were any specific species we were hoping for. It's only about 30 minutes from Miami Beach (we had the 7am charter), parking was easy with meters, and there were clean restrooms right at the marina.
After a short boat ride to our fishing spot, Captain John had us set up and fishing within minutes. This guy is seriously impressive - he kept all our poles baited while simultaneously teaching us about the local area and wildlife. Being a fourth-generation Miamian, he knows these waters like the back of his hand.
The Fishing Was Absolutely Incredible:
We started catching fish immediately - ended up with over 15 Jack Crevalle (fun fish to catch) plus several Grunt and Ladyfish.
My kids were already thrilled, but then Captain John cut up one of the jacks for bait and told us we might attract some sharks.
I'm not kidding when I say my boys hooked FOUR sharks during our half-day trip. We successfully landed three of them - all between 4-7 feet long and around 75 pounds each. Captain John was amazing at coaching them through the fights, teaching them how to let the shark tire itself out instead of wearing themselves out.
Why I'd Recommend Captain John to Anyone:
What really impressed me was how educational the whole experience was. Captain John shared so much knowledge about the fish, the ecosystem, and the area itself. He made it engaging for both my new teenager and young adult, which isn't always easy to do.
I honestly can't think of a single complaint. The timing was perfect, the location was convenient, Captain John was professional and knowledgeable, and the fishing exceeded every expectation we had.
If you're on the fence about inshore fishing or looking for a family-friendly charter in Miami, don't hesitate to book with Captain John. We're already thinking about coming back.
Perfect for families, first-timers, or anyone wanting an authentic Miami fishing experience with someone who truly knows these waters.

Read moreMy girlfriend and I went on vacation to Miami last year on the condition that we went on a fishing trip. I spent a good amount of time picking out a service and after reading nothing but good things about double threat i called them up and booked a trip.
I booked us for a evening/night snook trip. The week that we visited had some pretty high winds that were unusual for the time of year so we had to deal with that but it was no problem for Nick and Brent. We went out on their boat "Blue Yonder" and since the weather was iffy we started out by kite fishing for shark. These guys definitely know what they are doing and I'm quite sure they could've been working with their eyes closed and been just as efficient. We ended up bringing in a very nice black tip and moved onto another spot looking for the snook. After relocating to the snook grounds, we began hooking up pretty quickly and caught some nice fish!
These guys kept us out a good while longer than we paid for (only after asking if it was okay, how would it not be?!) so that we could get into some more fish. I have seen the polar opposite of Nick and Brent with a couple guides I've met in Alaska and I was very pleased with Nick and Brent's knowledge, friendliness and attitude in general. They really care about giving their customers a good time and it clearly isn't just work for them.
I hope we make it back to Miami one of these days so we have the opportunity to get back out with them and hook into...
Read moreAs a local I have fished with many guides down here but there's nobody else I'm fishing with again. I have been out with Double Threat Charters 3 times and we managed to catch every species we targeted. They are excellent kite fishermen and it really was a sight to be seen, especially the second trip where we caught 6 sails in a full day. We have also caught amberjack, mahi, and mutton snapper. On the flats boat we caught a few snook and a small tarpon during a nighttime trip which was exactly what I was going after.
These guys can catch anything that swims off Miami but what I like even more is that they are good people. Brent and Nick are very enthusiastic, patient, and love what they do. They are very flexible with time and you can tell there is no place they would rather be than on the water. They are honest, genuine, and priced very fairly as well.
They have 2 boats, both of which are clean, comfortable, and run well. I even chartered the big boat with a party of 6 and was shocked that it was still spacious. Leaving from Coconut Grove is also a plus because parking is free and easy and it's not a tourist trap like Bayside.
I've loved every trip with them and I can't wait until my next trip in May. Stop looking around and give these guys a call! They really are...
