I'm a baby crossfiter and proud of it! As an 11 year veteran/amputee/adaptive athlete, I've tried many exercise regiments like Orange Theory method, Crunch Gyms, and other sports like triathlons, rowing, sailing, track etc however none have taken all of my flaws or weaknesses and modified them so I too can benefit from a functional fitness routine.
At 50, I decided I'm willing to put in the work and invest on being in the BEST shape of my life and beyond. From the time I met w Coaches Jeff, Dan, Juan, I knew I had found that community! All the coaches actually are great, and the crossfiters at the box have been very supportive of my efforts.
I look forward to increasing my two days to three days a week real soon. I love how in just 2.5 weeks I've gained 5lbs,1 in of muscle on my thighs, 3.5 in in my triceps, lost 1in from my waist, added 3lbs of lean mass and lost 1in of bf%.
I'm accountable and very disciplined with my food prepping for the week, I get plenty of the right foods as I've been eating as clean as possible. I love my 7-8 hours of rest, staying hydrated with a gallon of water a day, lots of stretching through yin yoga and foam roller. I even started drinking the postworkout Orgain Chocolate Fudge Plant Based Protein Powder, and soon will be ordering some hand wraps to help with my palm calluses.
I feel wonderful after the soreness settles, I actually get excited and look forward to all the new ways I'm shocking my body and its acclimating as if it couldnt wait for the change!
Thank you #Crossfit305 Miami for taking on an adaptive athlete, and fueling in her the hope to continue defying age, looks, and how others define individuals with disabilities. It empowers me to reach my goal, and continue to strive for my best...
Read moreI've been a regular and member for the last 6+ years, although now I buy in packages. I have relocated nearby the other gym they own in Miami (A1A) over to near 305, hence it's time for a review. Over the last 6 years, I have grown a lot in terms of my fitness, diet, and overall health. This is completely due to the amazing leadership of the 305/A1A team. There are lots of folks who come and go, but Dan, Chad, and Jeff are always there for you and great people to know. I've done Dan's diet, and it's amazing. I use a variable of it now myself. I have gotten off blood pressure medication 5 years ago due to this team and my exercise regiment.
A1A is a great place, but the newest location is very cramped and small, 305 is another level of space and equipment. Much better overall, and the same wonderful coaching staff from A1A is here too. I will be a regular again and love working with the team. Thank you very much, Chad, Dan, and Jeff (and all the others who have passed through... Fond memories of Ron Ron and Keenan...
Read moreCrossFit has a reputation of being tough, it's what ppl assume, b/c everyone coming out of there looks super fit so inevitably, I was intimidated. However, I felt a warm welcome into the A1A location and a strong sense of devotion by the team of experts; Dan, Chad, Juan, and Keenan. From day one, I learned and had to un-learn techniques, the coaches are experts in training and healthy lifestyle. I've worked out for 20 years and have learned more in 6 months than I ever knew I had to learn. In the beginning I thought, "oh, maybe I will incorporate CrossFit into my regular workouts a couple times a week". I was wrong. I got hooked and find myself wanting to go 4-5x a week, as every day is a different challenge and workout. This gym doesn't just want to get ppl fit, the team actually cares about the person they are...
