Update: Due to the terrible way I was treated at check-in by the front desk manager, I have lowered my rating to 2 stars. I will not be back anytime soon. No one should have to put up with that kind of experience I endured at check-in. Totally unprofessional from the management, no less. The room was decent and the rest of the hotel, its grounds, the parking structure and casino area were good. The pool was loud, water was dirty and it was incredibly hot and humid. Couldn't wait to get out of there after 15 minutes. Also, it is very difficult to get to the pool area from the Blu Spa Tower. A lot of walking through a labyrinth of halls, cubby type areas, elevators and a filthy basement with dangerous wet tile floors where the pool and exercise area is located. Best to skip the pool, entirely. ******************************************* First time in Indiana and I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that there was a casino in Michigan City. So, I stopped in to check it out. Very nice and convenient location. I felt safe going there both at night and during the day. Parking was plentiful and had option for garage parking, valet or out in the open. Chose open area for parking and walked a short distance to the entrance. Very Vegas like and I was impressed. It is bright, full of the newest slot machines and it wasn't crowded. Stopped by to get my membership for the Player's Card Club. The representative was very nice and knowledgeable. Less than 10 minutes signing up and was off to play the slots. So many games to choose from. Older games, newer games and everything in between. Many gaming tables, too. Multiple beverage stations available. Clean restrooms. Temperature in casino was slightly chilly, but not as cold as Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI. As for the slot games, they have many different Buffalo slot varieties, some I never heard of. My recent visit to Las Vegas didn't have the newest games, yet this casino did. Happy for that. Winning payouts were quite frequent for me and others. I was able to play a long time without losing very much. I definitely appreciate that. If there were any issues with my visit, it was the flooring at the front entrance of the casino. There is a steep ramp and it is very hard not to trip over it, fall and roll. While signs and different colored carpet somewhat help people to notice this hazard, it doesn't work well enough. I saw many, many people have near accidents, including myself and family members of all ages. It is a major hazard for any age or physical disability. It's NOT a good way to start your casino experience at Blue Chip. The other issue is the security gate that checks ID and such. While all casinos have these gates, Blue Chip has them AFTER the restaurants. Having them this way isn't very smart or practical. It's a nuisance. With all other casinos, these security check gates are at the front doors, not AFTER the lobby and restaurant area. This way, if you buy drinks at a restaurant, you are already through the security check. After purchasing a soft drink and a coffee at Blue Chip's Deli which is before the security gate, I was told I couldn't bring it through the security, even though security watched me buy the coffee. I had to drink it in the lobby or outdoors. Dumbest thing I have ever seen at any casino I've been to in my lifetime. Put the security gates at the front doors BEFORE the restaurants and main casino floor. All and all, though, this casino was a surprise and a pleasant one. While I like Four Winds, it's nice to see other places offer the casino experience. I'll be back soon, however, with no restaurant drinks purchased before the security gate. ...and watch out for that crazy ramp, too.

This was the worst experience I've ever had staying at a hotel. I booked the hotel stay through a third party, and upon checking in, we had to pay for the total stay up front. The rates that we paid up front were more than what we were told via the third party rates, we agreed to online. I asked for a receipt so that we could see the itemized difference in pay, to compare it with the itemized pay list that was through the third party website. The Bluechip Casino refused to print me out a receipt and told me that they couldn't see anything on the large monitor in front of them. They told us that everything would even out on the day we checked out. We said, "okay" thinking that this would actually happen. While staying at the hotel, we had no tv service and was told to login into our personal Netflix account in order to watch TV, or we could pay extra for "their special TV services". We definitely were not about to pay anything extra, so we reluctantly logged into our personal Netflix account. The second day of our stay, we were suddenly awaken by a fire alarm and were told to evacuate the building. When we arrived downstairs, prepared to evacuate the building, the alarms stopped so then we were told we could go back up to our room. Before we walked back to our room, we decided to go to the front desk to inquire about the fire alarm. When we asked the front desk about the alarm, they had no idea that the fire alarm even went off, and looked at us confused. We arrived back at our room to lay back down, and believe it or not, the fire alarm went back off!!! We peeked in the hallway to see if other people were leaving back out, and saw no one. Then the alarm stopped. The bathroom shower head was so caked with crud that we had to rotate the shower head around to find the "best" flow of water- which still only had a few trickles of water that came out. We shared our disappointment of our stay thus far with another couple who were staying at the hotel, and they told us that the front dest was reimbursing people the resort fee ($40). We went back to the front desk and were promised a resort fee refund. Long story short, after checking out we did not receive a resort fee refund, we were charged more than the cost of stay advertised by the third party, and after returning home and calling several times to inquire about the resort fee refund, we received unpleasant attitudes, were given phone numbers that don't work, hung up on, and were told "our department doesn't handle this situation, let me transfer you," just to be hung up on again. We will never stay at this place again, and we discourage you to never book a reservation here. One lady told us that her family had been staying at Bluechip for 10 years and that this was also her worst experience, and that the quality of the stays were going down. Housekeeping doesn't even clean the rooms daily. Please see the attached image.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of renting the Blue Chip Casino Ballroom for my girlfriends 50th anniversary celebration, and I can say with complete certainty that it was an unforgettable, flawless experience from start to finish! This Venue is nothing short of spectacular, and the staff went above and beyond to make the evening one of the most memorable moments of our lives. From the moment we began planning, CJ was an absolute superstar. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm made the entire process seamless and stress-free. CJ listened to every idea I had, offered brilliant suggestions, and ensured that every aspect of the event was tailored to perfection. They truly understood the importance of this milestone celebration and made sure every detail reflected the love and joy of the occasion. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in planning this event. On the night of the celebration, the Blue Chip Casino Ballroom was transformed into a breathtaking space that left our guests in awe. The ambiance was elegant yet warm, with every element-lighting, decor, and layout-executed flawlessly. It was the perfect blend of sophistication and comfort, creating an atmosphere that made everyone feel special. The dinner was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and presented with such artistry that it felt like a Michelin-Star experience. It was clear that the culinary team poured their heart and soul into every bite, making the dining experience a highlight of the evening. The staff truly elevated the night to another level. Tony and Deirdre, our servers, were phenomenal-attentive, warm, and incredibly professional. They anticipated every need before we even had to ask, ensuring that every guest felt pampered and cared for. Their infectious energy and genuine smiles added such a joyful vibe to the evening, and they handled everything with grace and efficiency. Lisa, the bartender, was an absolute gem. Her creativity and skill behind the bar had everyone buzzing about the cocktails! She crafted drinks that were not only delicious but also perfectly complemented the celebratory mood. Lisa ensured every guest had a drink in hand and a smile on their face. Will, the team captain was the glue that held everything together. He was constantly checking in, making sure every detail was perfect and that the evening flowed smoothly. His calm, confident presence gave me complete peace of mind, allowing me to fully enjoy the celebration without worrying about a single thing. Will's dedication to ensuring everything went off without a hitch was truly remarkable. The Blue Chip Casino Ballroom isn't just a Venue- it's an experience. The combination of the stunning space, world-class cuisine, and an exceptional team made my girlfriend's 50th anniversary celebration a night we'll cherish forever. To CJ, Will, Tony, Deirdre, Lisa, and the entire Blue Chip team: thank you for making this milestone so magical. I'm already looking forward booking my next event with you! If you're searching for a Venue that delivers perfection, look no further than the Blue Chip Casino ballroom-it's...

My boyfriend had stayed at the Blue Chip years ago for work. He told me how him and his coworkers always had a good time at the casino. This year for his birthday he wanted to go revisit the place. Unfortunately it wasn't the same. When I booked the room apparently there were only smoking rooms available. Figured it would be ok. Stayed in smoking rooms before and they weren't bad. However it seems like they do nothing to mitigate the smoke smell at all. No air purifier or anything. The room smelled awful. The drapes seemed like they hadn't been washed in years. You could see the film on the lamp shades. Even the newer shower smelled inside. We contemplated asking if there were cancellations and other rooms available. We ended up deciding to just get some air freshener and hope for the best since we were trying to make it a fun birthday celebration. Thanks to some Glade and a peach candle it started to smell better. When I went into the bathroom there was some kind of gross sticky spot on the counter and in the sink. I ended up having to clean the sink up before we could use it. The toilet paper holder kept moving and the paper kept falling off. The shower not only smelled but it looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in a while. The grout looked gross. Had to use the hand towels to stand on. I've been in smoking casinos before. This was by far the worst. Just like the rooms it seems like they do nothing to mitigate the smoke. It was really bad. We went there to gamble though. After walking around to check it out we wanted to head to the tables. A bunch of them weren't even open.My boyfriend went back down a bit later to play some poker. The only table they had open was a 3 card poker where you only played against the dealer. For food we ate at The Game once. That's a restaurant in the casino. The food and service were really good. Give that a thumbs up. The next night we ate at on of the other restaurants there. It was called Lakeside. You order at a counter. They give you cups to get your own drinks. Your food comes out carried by a robot and you wait for the server to come take it off the robot and put it on your table. Yet at the counter when you order and pay ahead they ask you to tip. The options are the same amount you would tip a full service waiter. They do offer the option to tip at the table. The food was definitely not as good as it should have been for the price. With the amount we paid they should be able to pay the servers more. I will say the staff was very pleasant. They seemed to always have smiles and say hi. We didn't have too many verbal interactions but when we did they were nice. We probably won't stay there again. It's unfortunate because it put a negative turn on good memories my boyfriend had from his last job with his former coworkers. He used to love the Blue Chip. I ended up taking pictures of the room before and when we were leaving. I was going to let the people at the front desk know but I really didn't want to put that on them. Took them when we left...
