Half Price Books — Attraction in Mishawaka

After several recent trips they have lost my business. I’ve taken in a couple different things what’s in the last several months normally I just buy stuff there but I had some stuff I was looking to get rid of. For one I took in boardgames not traditional stuff like monopoly but expensive games that somebody in the board game hobby would play. Every time I come in the store the first place that I go was the board game section so I know what their prices look like and they’re all over priced for what they’re actually offering which is just traditional type of games for the most part so when I brought in my board games expected a decent offer. Now I Know that I will get nowhere near what I paid but the offers that I got were ridiculous I brought in probably close to $300 worth of games And they offered me like 30 bucks that’s 10% and insulting. Couple weeks later I brought in textbooks all good condition no missing pages no highlighter, all from within the last year , there was four of them they offered me $12 Total that is equivalent to three dollars a textbook when you know they’re going to turn around and sell them for 40-50 bucks apiece if not more. For selling used items 20 to 30% is usually the standard and with half-price books you’re getting 10% or less it’s insulting at least most other places offer you just enough to not be insulting I’m sure that they are use to getting a dumbfounded response from people because they didn’t seem surprised and on top of that I’ve heard from multiple patrons of the business that this is how it is that you don’t actually go there to sell stuff if you wanna get any reasonable Offer. Additionally the textbooks that they offered me $12 for total I took to another company and received $30 for, so their offer was quite off. The one positive thing that I will say is that the employees for the most part are very nice and have good customer service skills, aside from that their selection of board games is embarrassing and there non-fiction/self help sections like psychology or sociology are cluttered with old books that aren’t really actually...

This place has a lot of cool inventory. And the staff are super helpful. Clean and well-lit. I didn't ask for a specific book but that might he easier than combing every shelf if you are looking for something specific. One thing though. I took 4 board games to trade in. New value? Well over $100. I figured it might be worth about 20 bucks to get something or if I had to add a little to it I would. Even if they offered half of resale used value that should sti me 15.00 or so. They only offer cash, and no benefit for in store credit. So when they offered me 7.50 for the 4 games i was a little shocked but figured why not. Then i started thinking about it. One if the games I took has a resale value in average condition of 15.00. When I questioned the value the smoke screens came out. "Oh I don't really know the values of each." So I asked if I could change my mind and "oh, yeah since we already gave you money you have to buy them back." I still had the ticket in my hand. No money yet. So then I offered to buy it back from them and asked how.much it would cost. "Ok so this time only I will void your ticket but in the future we can't do this." Why play games? I know they are a business but I guess I thought they might be different than everyone else. Steal merchandise and then mark it up 1000% Why not make a little money a bunch of times and then turn games over faster? Go to shop. But don't sell them stuff unless you really...

Half Price Books – Disorganized and Disappointing Experience

I was disappointed with my recent visit to Half Price Books. The store was noticeably disorganized, and the overall atmosphere felt chaotic and uninviting. Customer service was lacking—staff seemed disengaged, and when I did speak with someone, it felt as though I was bothering them rather than being welcomed.

There also appeared to be a lack of management presence to keep operations running smoothly and ensure a better customer experience. Given the condition of the store and the indifference from staff, this location is not one I would recommend. Unfortunately, it fell far below...
