So, here is a summary of my first and last dealings with James Avery Artisan jewelry:
This year, for Christmas gifts for kids and friends, I thought it might be a good idea to try James Avery, which had recently opened in our neighborhood at Fort Bend, Missouri City, Texas. I was especially attracted since they do customized engraving that make personal gifts even more special. My purchases came over two thousand dollars, but I was happy with them, and I was also assured repeatedly by the store associate that if I have any problem - just bring it back and we will fix it. They proudly claimed that all their jewelry are branded, and so I need not even save the receipt to get any problems fixed however far into future that happened! All this gave me the impression that this is a store that is proud of its workmanship, and hence confident about providing good service to the customers.
I picked up my order on December 20th, and the Christmas gifts were greatly appreciated by the recipients. But, unfortunately, the very first time my daughter tried on her engraved necklace, it came apart in her hands- and to our dismay, we saw that a link had come unsoldered. Though disappointed, I reassured my daughter I will take it back to the store after Christmas rush, and get it fixed.
Just this afternoon, Jan 9th, I took the chain to the same store from which I had purchased it. At that time, my only concerns were about the hassle of this extra trip in the cold weather, and about how soon I would get the necklace back. I fully expected the store associate to be empathetic, and apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. But lo & behold, the minute she looked at the broken necklace, and I stated the problem, her response was, "this will need to be shipped to (some) store, and you will be charged $20 for that." As I was standing there dumbfounded at this unapologetic and extremely curt business proposal, Jashley (the name of the associate on the receipt) continued, "or we can exchange this for a new one at half the price!" As I looked even more dumbfounded, she saw that it's an engraved one, and said, "oh, it's engraved." By now, I recovered my voice, and said clearly that the only thing I came expecting from the store was an apology for the bad workmanship that made a brand new necklace come unsoldered at the very first try, and a perfect repair of the same at no charge. Instead, here I am left with perfect rudeness, no apology and a charge of another 20 dollars (which somehow became 21.65 when I paid)! All for the mistake of choosing James Avery to spend quite a bit of my money this Christmas!
So, yes, if these jewelers workmanship is so shoddy that your precious jewelry falls to pieces before you even get a chance to wear it once, then, I say, never go there! (I won't, for sure, except to collect my repaired brand new necklace, which I have already paid for, two times!) And yes, if a store promises free returns and exchanges, and the sales person gives you the impression that they are proud of their brands, and would help customers with any fault in future, and then shamelessly, and rudely, charge you to repair even a brand new jewelry that came unsoldered at the very first instance, then I say, never go there!
Dear James Avery, if you think I am angry about spending an extra $21.65, you are wrong. It is the insult, the discourtesy, the break of a promise to your customer, who trusted you in good faith, that has enraged me. Now, I don't even trust in the quality of your gold or precious stones. I feel I have wasted so much money on trash. And that is why you have lost this customer forever. Hope you learn something good from my anger and...
Read moreI recently visited a store that left me completely awestruck. It was an incredible sight, unlike anything I had ever seen before. The sheer magnitude of the store was mind-boggling, and it felt like a dream come true. The jewelry designs available were vast and varied, and it was difficult to choose just one. I have been a loyal customer of this brand for over a decade now, and it has never failed to impress me. The quality of their products is simply superb, with everything sparkling and shining brilliantly.
What's more, the store was spotlessly clean and well-maintained, almost like it was tended to by the gods themselves. And to top it off, the location was just a short 5-minute drive away from my in-laws' residence. Can you imagine the convenience?
I visited the store today with my children, and they were absolutely thrilled. Each of them found something that they loved, and it was a joy to see their faces light up with excitement. The staff members, especially Natalie, were incredibly friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was truly unforgettable.
All in all, I can confidently say that this brand new location has exceeded my expectations in every...
Read moreCustomer service is awful. Associates are soooo slow and not friendly at all. Definitely not what Im used to when I think about my previous years and years of patronage. I even worked there a few years ago ⸻
Update 3/28 It’s been a year since my last review, and unfortunately, not much has changed. I stopped by again today around 1:45 PM. There were two employees working, and I spent at least five minutes looking around before anyone acknowledged me. When someone finally asked if I needed help, I said I’d like to try on a ring—but no one offered to assist me. They remained behind the register instead.
Another customer walked in shortly after and went straight to the register, where she was helped right away. That’s when I realized I apparently needed to wait in line just to receive service. I continued to wait—frustrated—because I had clearly been there before the other customer.
Sadly, it seems this location still hasn’t improved when it comes to valuing customer service. It’s disappointing, especially since I was genuinely excited to have a James Avery nearby. But the lack of attentiveness and care is...
