PetSmart — Attraction in Monrovia

If you’re looking for a safe and comfortable place to leave your pet, then look no further! This was my first time boarding my rescue dog Luna, and honestly I was super nervous. My pup is attached to me and can get uneasy around strangers, so I was really deliberate about finding a reliable place to board her. After hours of skimming through reviews , I finally found the pet hotel at Petsmart Monrovia and felt convinced enough to try it due to the positive feedback.

I’m sure glad I did! From the moment I left Luna in their care, I was reassured – The Petsmart staff are very friendly and my dog warmed up to them immediately. The check in process is a breeze — a staff member will ask you detailed questions about your pet to make sure that they are given the best care. You’re allowed to bring your pet’s food, bedding, and toys from home (I made sure to do that and I think the familiar smells helped ease my dog’s nervousness a lot!) My anxiety was also lessened because I was able to contact the hotel at any time during the day to check in on my pet.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the high level of care that Petsmart offers. It looks like the dogs are kept stimulated with games, treats, walks and are frequently checked on by friendly staff members throughout the day. What’s also reassuring is that each dog has a private suite that is climate controlled, sanitized, and that there is a vet on call 24/7 in case of emergencies (this sounds much more legit to me than placing my dog under a stranger's care from some online pet service). After my dog’s stay at the pet hotel, I was relieved to see that she left happy and healthy!

July 2025 EDIT: NOT 5 STAR SERVICE I have been using Petsmart grooming over the last three years, Originally, I was extremely satisfied with their service and they were great but that only lasted so long. Over the years the grooming has progressively gotten worse. My Yorkie has a topknot, “ponytail“ and lots of hair on his face. I usually ask for a teddy bear cut, his hair on his ears is long, His face hair is long and his body hair is usually trim short… His haircut has been extremely uneven all over, choppy around the face and overall very unappealing. When I contacted Petsmart grooming department regarding my dissatisfaction with the haircut for my Yorkie, there was no offer for any resolution. Short of being told oh well, I was basically told there’s nothing that can be done until the original stylist was back on shift. And to make matters worse, when I said that I would likely not continue to use their grooming services, the girl giggled and said OK great, she seemed happier than ever that I would no longer be bringing my dog there. Seems as though they don’t have any consideration for complaints regarding their mistakes and ultimately lack any real talent in cutting long haired dogs. The staff would likely prefer to bathe dogs who don’t need proper trimming rather than those who require more professional care and scissoring.

Let me tell you straight up: Stella, my badass fur-boss, got the VIP treatment at PetSmart’s Pet Hotel and I’m still not over it. Staff Love: Those angels on Earth treated Stella like she owned the joint. They cuddled her, played fetch, and fussed over her every whim. When I saw those pics of her grinning, I nearly lost it. Pristine Rooms: Stella’s suite was cleaner than my own apartment. No funk, no sketch just crisp bedding and a spotless space where she felt safe and spoiled. Daily Updates: I got texts, photos, and play-by-play reports on Stella’s adventures. Knowing she was living it up while I was stuck at work? Priceless. Play & Pamper: Between social time, runs in the play yard, and a quick spa session before checkout, Stella romped home looking and smelling like a million bucks.
