Taisho — Restaurant in Monrovia

Good food. Bad vibes. This is a family favorite, we've been coming here for years. I will rethink about that. Only for the simple fact that when I ordered today Friday January 19th 2024 at approximately 330-4:00 p.m. Whoever is behind the cash register is a snot. I never had this experience at this establishment before. I got to experience a young little snotty thing behind the counter , taking my order. She was very rude/ pretentious . There was no reason, I ordered as normal but apparently I felt I wasn't going fast enough for her, I am older and my vision isn't the greatest. To top it off After giving me phouchy energy, she was the same person that gave me my order bags. She made sure to still have an attitude (her tone /, the way she looked at me) and the way she just threw in the packets into my bag. It was quite spectacular, and absolutely unnecessary. Is that unusual for Los Angeles? Probably not. However, do I really need to deal with this when I have the freedom to choose the establishments I want to...

I love this place! It looks like a little fast food place that wouldn't be that great but i was very pleasantly surprised. The fish tastes super fresh and it's good quality. I've had some bad quality Sushi before so I know. The salmon is super buttery and just melts in your mouth. I also love how it's really casual and you don't have to be scared of the prices like any other Japanese restaurant. Last time I came here I ordered the teriyaki chicken and the salmon and avocado roll... And it was bomb! This time I tried the sushi combo bowl which is salmon and spicy tuna over sushi rice and I ordered a miso soup on the side which was great as well. I would definitely come here over and over again if I worked...

Phenomenal lunch experience. Our friend and family had been reading here for over a decade and highly recommended it.

I ordered the rice bowl with teriyaki chicken and beef option. Ordered the small bowl and was more than satisfied. We added a spiced seasoning mix that is available and added a great kick and dimension to the vegetable sides and rice.

For an added fee can substitute brown rice, extra sauce. The service is nothing spectacular. Quick, short, to the point. Bus your own table when you're done. The food made up for it.
