I was very disappointed in my experience at Platinum Nails. In need of a fresh pedicure, I thought I would give this place a try today. When I arrived, I was was told the premium package with the paraffin wax was on special so I decided to go for it.
Things were going just fine until time for the wax. The paraffin treatment consists of the foot being placed in a bag of hot wax. When the application was applied to the first foot, it was a little sensitive to the temperature of the wax and I told the lady it was burning. She did not remove it, but it quickly dried and began to cool off so I didn't say anything else. My second foot however was much more sensitive and when I asked for the application to be stopped she did not do so and instead said it will get better. I told her it was burning an to take it off. She did. She waited a minute and then put it back on. It was still very hot and burned the bottom of my foot so I told her to remove it. She told me it was the mint she applied beforehand that was making my foot tingle and that it would stop in a moment. Once again I said please take it off, it is burning my foot. She did not. I then, more insistently, said take it off now - my foot is being burned. She hesitated and then patted my foot. I responded remove it! She finally did and immediately begin rubbing it with a towel. I told her it hurt and asked her to stop.
No actual first aid was administered, other than cold water (which I asked for). The staff just looked at me. They also began talking to each other, not in English, and did not talk to me about the situation. Finally someone came over with cooling gel. She gave no indication of what the gel was (there was no clear label) and did not ask if I had any allergies to such things. She just wanted to start applying it and kept saying it will help. At that point I just wanted to leave and go home to put ointment on the burn.
The manager finally spoke to me and was incredibly rude and told me I was not burnt. He wanted to see my foot, which I allowed, but I drew the line when he began poking the burn. I moved my foot away and said please don't touch my foot, it's burnt and hurts. He told me that he needed to inspect it. He was very angry with me and kept insisting the wax was not hot. I told him I understood if he was not burned by it but that I was. He would not tell me the temperature and said if you don't believe me out your hand in it. I would not and he waved me away.
I will absolutely not go back and warn anyone of getting any wax treatment! Also, I would be very wary as the customer service was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to Platinum Nail Spa two times since I've lived here. I went for the first time to get an acryllic fill-in with the gel polish on top- which is wonderful because it lasts for a month! One of the male technicians sat me down to do my nails. I tried to converse with him, but refused to respond or gave me one word answers although he spoke perfect english with his coworkers. If a technician does a good job, I am okay if they are not talkative, however, not two weeks later did my nails begin to fall off.
I just visited the nail salon again tonight for my usual fill in with gel polish with one of my friends who was getting a full set. When we walked in, the girl at the front desk had her headphones in and was playing on her iPhone. She looked at us and then looked back at her iPhone until another technician greeted me. I had a female technician this time. She took off two off and replaced two of my nails and tried to get a third one off that was in tact quite firmly. I told her she was hurting me trying to remove my nail but she insisted on taking it off anyway. She asked me to select my polish and I chose one with a two-toned red color. At the time of the check out she charged me $17 for the fill in, $15 for the gel polish and $5 for two new nails ($37). It was clear I was over charged since my friend who got a full set with the gel polish was only charged $35. I told the technician and she said the two tone color was a design and was an additional $5-again not making sense since she didn't charge me for that the first time she quoted me the price and because there was no design on my nails.... I told her I refused to pay this as her prices were not consistent and more than that of a full set! I have never been to a more unprofessional place an would not recommend this nail...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood color and design options and experienced techs. Never had a bad experience here as this is my close to home backup shop when I don't feel like driving to Raleigh to my main nail shop.
Updated review as of 6/20/23: The bad experience took place (actually twice) and I had hoped that it would turn around so I didn't have to change my review. I no longer will go to PW Nail Spa as a result of a negligent tech who was so preoccupied with what everyone around him was doing and constantly looking over his shoulder like he was on the run that he cut my cuticle to the point of bleeding. He noticed my ankle was swollen and made an insulting comment about it. He later apologized but the damage was done. He was also just all around rough with the pedicure, so I requested someone else for my manicure services. My 2nd negative experience consisted of me requesting a lady technician for my services (as the Manager said I should do at my last appt when I told her of my experience) with the Manager and she honored that request for my pedicure and the technician was lovely, gentle and did a great job, but for some reason was pulled away just as she finished my pedicure and was replaced with a male technician to complete my services. Per usual, he was rough with my hands, inattentive and just did an okay job. It was never explained why the technician I already had had to go to another client, she even seemed surprised when someone came and told her to move on to another client leaving me to wait about 10 mins for someone to come back and get me to finish. Management did not listen to my request and subpar services...
