I really thought long and hard about posting this because I really want to support a Hispanic run market. I find all their foods to be great in taste. However, today I went to the food order counter. They have a three taco combo which is what I had with beans and rice. I had the chicken tacos. I just want to warn people to please make sure when you are chewing to really chew because I found a pebble in my food today. At first I was really afraid to spit it out because it felt like a tooth, the size and shape of a tooth. When I spit it out I found a black pebble in my chicken. Needless to say I was shocked. I wouldve gone back there but I don't live close enough and I thought it would be best to call. I called the store and asked to please speak to a manager. The woman who answered asked me who I was. I told her I was a customer that was there and had just bought a taco combo and that I had found a small rock in my food. I told her I wanted to let them know so that they could probably throw out the chicken that they were serving in the tacos. Instead the woman was confused. There might have been a language barrier but she did speak some English. She put me on hold and then came back and said do you have your receipt I said I do but I'm just trying to warn you so the food can get thrown out. She said she would speak to the staff in the kitchen. My only real gripe is that I never really got to speak to the manager I feel like it was a big enough issue where this should immediately get resolved. The manager should know about it and I have no way of knowing whether the food was thrown out. Thankfully I am not sue happy and I don't have any damage that I can tell. Thankfully even though I bit hard on the rock it didn't crack my tooth. The next person might not be so lucky.

It’s like taking a trip to a Mercado in Mexico! Great selection of of products, clean and organized. Bathrooms could use a little cleaning. The different areas of food are really cool, from the café, the tortillería, the kitchen with pollo asado. They have a Tamales Bar? What? They have a number system at the meat market, so people don’t have to fight over who is next. The service from everyone there was great! The young girl at the café was willing to make their classic Café de Olla on ice instead of hot. Try the seafood cocktail at the kitchen area. Spicy and Delicious. Surprised that it was so good, since Super Market food is not always that great, but it was as good as any authentic Mexican Restaurants.

We LOVE Cardenas Markets! They have the freshest meats and produce. You can’t go wrong with their quick service hot bar that serves hot wings, birria, carnitas, chicken, plantains, tacos, burritos, ribs, rice and beans—all for an excellent price! We also love their bakery, their hot tamales, their variety of salsas, their cheese/sour cream deli, and their ceviche bar—SO FRESH! Did I forget to mention the handmade tortillas and chips? Always warm and always freshly prepared right there! We love to come here and pick up food for parties or dinners. The market itself is very clean and although usually busy, they have plenty of self check out counters so you can get in and out pretty quickly.

Update: Every time I called to speak to a manager I was told they were in a meeting. They clearly knew they were wrong hence why they did not want to talk to me. I hope this store shuts down. Hate to pull that but imagine coming to someone’s country and treating them like thieves. This store needs to be SHUT DOWN.

You can guess my race but I was profiled in this store by the female assistant manager as a doordash driver picking up for a customer because I was LOST and needed help and there was barely an employee around or they left. I have picked up orders here twice before and I know other dashers have too so the assistant manager should be familiar with us. I have been to this store twice before in the exact same outfit so I don’t understand why I was not recognized. Most importantly from the surveillance (I used to work in retail) she should have seen me scanning items. She could have also sent someone to ask if I needed help as I did since I don’t speak Spanish. I had to ask customers for help. Sending an employee to ask if I needed help this would have helped me and her as her employee would have went back and told her, “it’s just a doordash driver”. Instead she sent down two male employees who were visibly angry at me.

Did she send them down to prepare to attack me? I have dealt with so much hostility, harassment, and profiling from retail workers since the smash and grab that I sometimes fear for my safety which is why I usually carry very strong pepper spray. But anyway at first I thought nothing of it until I finished shopping for my customer and then as I am about to ask the employee at self checkout for help I see the assistant manager hurriedly telling her likely to watch me. When the manager left I asked for help entering an item and she too seemed very upset. I don’t blame the employees entirely but it’s like as Mexicans they should know profiling affects us both and to wait and see before labeling someone a theft. It's obvious she has racial bias to jump to me possibly being a thief and that's why she was wrong. You're supposed to catch someone stealing BEFORE alerting everyone. Anyway, I tried to call the assistant manager numerous times to politely ask why she was profiling and she has not picked up the phone because she knows she’s wrong. I'm not the type to argue with strangers but I'm just curious why? Has she not seen me before? Did she not see me scanning items with my phone? When I used to work at Walgreens my manager was very much against profiling plus we were never alerted unless someone was actually stealing. So I don't understand.

I have never stolen in my life. I came here to shop for a customer which she should have seen if she was paying attention. I’m black so the likelihood of me knowing Spanish is a toss up? She didn’t see me steal so she should have known I just needed help. Ever since the whole smash and grab stores keep harassing not only me but other black people I know. What’s sad is companies have admitted they lied about the increase in shoplifting. I wish people would do their research instead of just believing the media. What’s sad is I never expected a brown person to do what I know she too has experienced as a minority. I always felt like out of all the stores I never had to worry about Cardenas profiling me because they are minorities too. I KNOW the assistant manager has been profiled before as a Mexican so why did she do it to me too? Ever since the whole smash and grab I am constantly being harassed and treated poorly by retail workers. White men don't get ALL get judged for all the white men shooting up stores so why are we all getting blamed for immoral thieves who just happen to share my race?...

First the cashier was busy talking to the other cashier and was going fast. I tried to put my phone number for the rewards points and it wouldn't allow me too. I think I pushed cancel on accident. I told Angel the cashier and he said I had to have the app. I said Ive never done it through the app he said it wont work if I dont have the app. So assumed this was something new. He told me I could go on the app and with my receipt. I said ok. I thought the app would allow me to put the receipt number so I wouldn't lose my points. He gave me the flyer to scan it for the app but I haf already started to download it. So we left. When I got in the car my husband started to drive home. I was looking on the app and no where on there did it give me the option of putting the receipt information in to get credit like other stores have. I started looking at the receipt and noticed I was charged for RED BELL PEPPERS for 10.00. I didn't have Red Bell Peppers, I did have RED ONIONS. The next item was Red Onions so I assumed he meant to correct the Red Bell Peppers. I called and the 1st time no one answered. The 2nd time someone answered and she told me to come to self check out and they would take care of me. I asked if I needed to bring groceries back in and she said no. When I got there I went to self checkout and Francisco was there with someone else. I explained to him what happened about Bell Peppers and the Rewards. He said yes you have to have the app to earn rewards and I showed him that I had rewards already from when I signed up. He said you can't without the app. So I pulled it up and he was like I dont know why. So I figured he would give me the solution for that so I can get my rewards when he took care of the refund. So he started asking me questions about it, I felt like he was assuming I was lying. I told him I can bring all my groceries back in or you can go with me to the car. He ignored me and said I need tp go talk to Angel. I stood there for about 5 mins. Finally he came back with an attitude. He made me feel horrible. Then a lady with blonde curly hair asked him what was going on. She was really nice and said just take care of it. Then he started telling her something in Spanish. I quickly said to them in Spanish...I will bring my stuff in so you can see I am not lying. She said no its ok. The whole time Francisco was rude to me. Finally he did the refund. Then he says to me next time put your phone number in. I said so there in nothing we can do about these points and he said NO its too late because of the refund. I was so upset already and didn't want to say something rude. I went to my car and told my husband if he knew he couldn't do it after the refund then he should have taken care of the rewards first. This was the worst experience ever. He really needs to work on his customer service skills. Angel needs to slow down and stop talking to others while helping customers. I would advice to have the option to be able to upload receipts on the app aswell. Please tell Francisco not to assume everyone is trying to steal because thats how he...

This store has horrible/very poor management, absolutely beyond them. I've been coming for over 2 years only because it's the nearest one but I absolutely leave almost every time frustrated. The meat area ways has a long line, they typically have 5 men back there BUT only 1 assisting customers. Not ro mention there regular check out lines, they always barely have the express lane open (which hardly has a line) & only ONE regular check out line with a long line. Please tell me how that's working efficiently &smart? Stater brother has it down to where they have up to 6 lines open at the same time to manage lines, why is it that Cardenas, a bust store usually at all times can't have the common sense to do so on a regular vases as well??? There's never a manager around when I need to speak to one, there's always employees huddled up in the front office that come out laughing as if there isn't anything g to do. Not to mention my mom has fallen in the produce area, while a genius employee thought it was a good idea to be mopping while there was so many people around. I had to yell at him to stop mopping because he continued. And of course, there was no manager around to talk too. So this place gets a ONE star. They really need to clean house and have better experienced people that know what they're doing for customer to have a better experience.

NEWEST REVIEW 01/11/2024

Yet again, nothings changed. Unfortunately, this place is stuck with inexperienced management. Long lines, all workers and cashiers recognize the lines & don't call for back-up. Although, there's a self-check out, in which I could totally do, it always takes me twice as longer checking out with their systems always requesting for help. Super annoying. I wish someone in corporate would spend 1 week here unannounced & really spend time in this store to get to run like stater brother, Albertons, or even Walmart for...
