We bought a mattress from this location 13 years ago & it was great. From the moment we slept on it, we loved it & when it was time to get another mattress, we returned. 2 weeks ago, we bought a Kingsdown Northwood mattress & was told we needed to buy their mattress cover so that the 10 year warranty wouldnât be voided. The one in the showroom was firm and plush. Not too stiff & not too soft. The first night we slept on it, we noticed that it was a different firmness. The mattress cover ($209) caused the mattress to feel hot & constantly slips off the corners.
Sit n Sleep has advertised for years that, if the mattress isnât comfortable, they will refund the cost as store credit, so you can find a better suited one. We called after a couple of days of sleepless nights. The salesman (Larry) said we need to sleep on it for 30 days before they would allow a return. He also stated that the return would cost us 20% as a restocking fee. He assured us that the mattress would soften over time & become more plush.
2 weeks later, still uncomfortable & not sleeping. We returned to the store & dealt with another sales associate, Stephanie. She said she would allow the return before the 30 day sleep trial was complete. We explained that the mattress we tried at the store was not the same firmness as the one delivered. She explained that the mattress in the store was a floor model that had been there about a year. We agreed to an exchange, minus the restock fee, which cost another $800 dollars.
Here are my complaints: A floor model that has been in the store for 1 year is not fair advertising. We checked on the industry standard for floor samples. 3-6 months is the maximum a floor model should be used as a sales example. The Purecare Tencel 5 sided mattress cover was sold to us as a ânecessary warrantyâ item, which is not true. Further, the cover, which we paid $209, sells on Amazon for $60 & has horrible reviews. Why the markup? Why sell something that has such poor reviews? I get that there should be a restocking fee. 20% seems a little high.
If Sit n Sleep wants to remedy this, this is what I expect: Full refund of the worthless plastic mattress cover. Full refund of the restocking fee, because the mattress we sampled was not the same firmness of what was delivered. Hence, false advertising.
EDIT: I received a call from Sit n Sleep dispute resolution department 1/26. They refunded $409, the total cost of the mattress cover & half of the restocking fee. They asked me to update my Google review, which I am doing. I am still not 100% satisfied with the transaction, customer...
Read moreWe share our story in hopes you find what is perfect for your sleep and rejuvenation needs. Sit 'n Sleep in Murrieta has Lori, the store manager, whom I read about in a few reveiws. Lori was pleasant, welcoming and pressureless from the second we stepped in. Let me back up a second.
We had just LAID around at Jerome's and Mattress Firm but we decided to go to one more store to purchase a mattress for my mom (84 years of life experiences). One of those experiences is a herniated disc which makes walking difficult and painfull.
Therefore it was tempting to buy a Serta at store #2 because mom was tired from walking to her eye appointment (cataract surgery a week ago), breakfast at IHOP, waiting in car at Walmart, then moving around from mattress to mattress, getting up and down at store#1 exhausts her. But mom is a trooper so after laying on a few mattresses over and over again for 10 minutes we found what was softest for her body. We then drove to store #2 and laid around for an hour from bed to bed. For most people this relax time but getting around the store plus on and off is super painful for her. We found a less expensive Serta at store #2 and thought about getting it. We still needed to go grocery shopping at Trader Joe's so buying the Serta looked to be the choice. BUT mom didnt look or sound overjoyed so we went to Trader Joe's and give us some time to think. After we decided one nore stop. Good thing we did. We got the best service, a great price and extremely satisfied that we TESTED so many mattresses. Without all of the comparisons, back and forth on mattress after mattress my mom would have gotten the Serta. Not that the Serta or others were not good just that it is important to allow my mom to get a good understanding by taking the time. Even though it hurt. A few hours of pain for thousands of houts of better sleep is worth it.
Lori was a gracious host and guide and bought a King Koil Coronado Super Plush. FREE delivery was availble the next day, Saturday! So now we break in the new bed and hopefully mom will sleep comfortably and get in and out of bed easier. Oh and Lori shared how a slight rise in the head and legs will help blood circulation while sleeping. This may Llow her body to heal while sleeping. Now maybe my mom will use her adjustable bed she hasnt used in four years!?! Search many until you find the right bed like Goldilocks. Good luck and hope...
Read moreI believe my husband visited on Sunday August 9th but I canât remember the name of the gentleman who helped us. However we thought he did a great job in our Search for a mattress that day. very friendly and communicative, he also laughed at all my jokes so bonus points for that, and he had a great personality as well. He seemed very knowledgeable about all the products he showed us, we also took the mattress test to see the level of customized firmness we should have. It seem like we spent a couple hours there laying on every single bed, lol, he was very thorough and had to be extremely patient while we tested out mattresses. He explained and informed us about all the different products and what might work best for us, all while never making us feel pressured to buy anything nor did we feel rushed to leave so he could go back to bed...JUST KIDDING, but I know if I worked there thatâs what Iâd be doing all day!đ´Nevertheless, we were eager for a bed so we settled on a mattress that day. Unfortunately later on we ended up at a furniture store to buy a living room set and noticed mattress, so we found a mattress that suited us better. So we did end up canceling our order at your store but it had nothing to do with the salesman he was excellent. I should add that we were slightly turned off by the policy that you only get the 10 year mattress warranty only when you buy the matching box springs. We already had new boxsprings so it was an added purchase that was not necessary except to have the warranty come with it. The other store, where we ended up buying the mattress that replaced the one from your store did not have that policy, but it was not A factor or had any relevance in why we canceled our purchase with your store. Itâs just nice that we didnât have to spend money on things that we did not need. Iâm sure itâs The policy of sit ân sleep and not necessarily your privately owned store So I wouldnât knock any points off for that. Overall it was a very nice experience, clean store, very nice salesman, the prices may have been slightly higher but I donât think I have enough knowledge to say that your mattresses are not fairly priced. I guess Iâll see if you get what you...
