Where the Locals Go | A Day Trip to Napa Valley (Architecture Edition)

On a recent outing to downtown Napa, I was attracted in the distance to a building that is a beautiful example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Being my first time in the area, I began walking toward it. I discovered that it is the First Presbyterian Church of Napa, built in 1874, and designed by Pioneer architects. It is a Historical Landmark. Although damaged in the 2014 earthquake, repairs were made, and by 2016, the Sanctuary was again being used for services and mutual support.

What a lovely piece of history and a revered place of worship. We were given the honor of exploring such a lovely precious gem of Napa history. We felt blessed to be able to see and enjoy such a lovely church.

David Stoker is the pastor and preaches at both sermons, the 9 am and 10:30 am. He is an impressive speaker, always from the heart, based upon sound Christian doctrine, yet never alienating. His sermons are historical, contextual, applied, often with humor - and - the best thing is you always have a key insight to take-away and apply in your life.

The church is also beautiful, architecturally important and soaring in overall feeling. The North stained glass window is Tiffany in style and possibly in provenance.

Folks are welcome any time to visit, view the church, and come to church events as...
