Went to make a first time donation. When we got there, the two employees did not greet us or smile. We started removing boxes. We handed one to each of the two and removed more boxes, placing them on the ground.
Apparently, one of them had said "DON'T PUT THEM ON THE GROUND" from in the garage. My Mother is hard of hearing. He stormed over as she was putting the box down to say, "I SAID NOT TO PUT THEM ON THE GROUND", My Mother was bewildered and said "Why?" And he repeated, "don't put them on the ground" My Mother look around and said, "I don't see a sign?" Reminder, this is both our FIRST TIME dropping off donations at this location. Then he said, "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE PICKING THINGS UP ALL DAY?" And that's when I told him, "You don't have to be RUDE!"
After that, he lost it. He told us to take our stuff and leave. I said, "No, we are dropping off our donations" He said, "No I don't want it!" I continued to remove items. Then he said, "leave or I am calling the police." I told him to go ahead, I know that we were not in the wrong. He radioed another employee (who must've been inside), "to call the police, we have an unruly customer." Then I got extremely insulted. By NO MEANS were we being unruly in the SLIGHTEST. We came to drop of donations, so we were going to; he was just extremely RUDE.
He wouldn't give me his name. I asked him for his manager and he said, "I AM the Manager." I told him I wanted the store manager and he says, "I am the highest ranking manager that works here." I obviously knew that was not true. My mother said we will not be donating here ever again (and it was only our first time!) He said, "that's fine we don't need it." Absolutely no pride or work ethic.
Two women employees came out to join us. As I explained to her, everything I said, he just kept yelling, "She's lying, she's a liar." The woman asked what I wanted her to do.She said, "pull up and I will go check the cameras." We parked and went in.
I waited at the front. Once she was there, I went over to her and she stared at me. I said, "Hi, I am the girl from out back (donation center)" she said "I know." She didn't say anything else; it was like she had already completely forgotten what she said she'd do. I asked, "Did you look at the cameras?" She said, "and what would I get from that?" I was baffled. I told her "so you can see how he treated us, how unprofessional he was talking to us" and she told me that the cameras don't pick up sound. I have no idea why she offered it.
I asked her, then what do I do? She kept saying and pointing out everything WE did wrong. She said WE should've ASKED if we can put it on the ground. I told her that there are NO signs with instructions or stating NOT to put things down. It's literally impossible for anyone to know... she kept saying "you should've asked". I told her that we thought we were being COURTEOUS by helping. Again, she said, "you should have asked." No shed of empathy or sincerity to her face. All the blame was on us.
Why would we care if we can't put a box on the ground? What would WE get out of making a problem from dropping off donations? Absolutely nothing. We only had a problem with the rudeness of the employee. By no means, did we want to start a problem. But the way he treated us like criminals for PUTTING A BOX ON THE GROUND is completely foolish.
How can people be SO mean? We just wanted to help, we just wanted to make a donation.
Probably the worst part, this Employee from out back in the donation area walked to the front of the store to listen to our conversation; "disguising" it as picking up the donation bin from the front, which was 1/4 full and stayed there to watch.
This wasn't the last time. He walked down one of the shoe aisles near us and just watched us, walked away, and kept looking back at us. And this time, I recorded him doing it. He was HARASSING us, trying to intimidate us.
We paid and left; but not only upset, we were scared. We couldn't have gotten in the car to drive away...
Read moreI still like to go to Savers, but I don't go as often as I used to. The prices have gotten so ridiculously high that it not uncommon at all to see used items, both clothing and hard goods that are more expensive than what they are tagged in a retail store brand new. Every single time I've pointed that out on an item, sometimes the item even has a flaw, like a stain on clothing or with hard goods something is broken or missing-I try to ask for a reasonable reduction in the price and the answer is ALWAYS "NO". If I politely point out that what I am requesting is fair and the chances of the item selling in the condition it's in, (even if it was perfect it would have been a higher price than new in a retail store.), is slim to none, they say if it doesn't sell they'll just throw it away because they don't have time to deal with that. I've even tried speaking to other employees at other times with the same general issues because I can't help feeling that getting some money is better than the probable none they will be getting for the item is the smarter way to go, they just don't care. Most of them don't know what they're doing and just don't care either. If they really wanted to help out the charity, they would work smarter and be more reasonable with their customers. About 4 or 5 years ago I'd spend between $100 and $200. Now my trips there are almost always under $50. It's frustrating. I would like about 14 or 20 uninterrupted minutes with the "big wigs in charge", and actually have them listen to my recommendations concerning the store. I know the brands, and I am familiar with the store policies, their pricing, and the way they generally do things. In addition to that, I know prices well because I am an online reseller who is either there to source for inventory or shop for my family-a bit of both. If there's something I'm not sure of, I can look it up on my phone very quickly. It's a shame what goes to waste because of the stupidity of the majority of the employees-not all, but it seems the majority. the only Savers I have been to since they have opened, (so I know it very well) is in the Market Basket plaza in Danvers, Mass. I also donate quite a bit to this...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the employees, at the Nashua NH store are AWESOME. This review has absolutely nothing to do with them. It's got everything g to do with the check out process. I, the customer, had zero options as to a choice of self check or Not self check out. Nope, not at Savers Nashua. No options. And the fact that the scanner is a !@#$%!! Joke. Over 3/4 of what inpurchased, the scanner would not scan, even after the very kind employee tried numerous times. He said I need to then enter the code, but at my age, I could not because I couldn't see the very tiny numbers on the price sticker. So again the employee stood there and attempted to scan (didn't work) and then enter all the codes, all price stickers are faded (& it's the way the thermal printer prints, it prints faded) so the stickers are faded too much for the scanners to pick up. It took me 20 minutes, TWENTY minutes to check out less than 10 items. Seriously, Savers?? And you probably pay these employees, trash pay, and they're smarter than you big overpaid bosses, because they KNOW this self check out system DOESN'T WORK doesn't help make anything better. Ayevaye aye SMH!!! And when an items price sticker has fallen off, your process if returning it to the proper depth is absolutely REDIQULOUS really. Something that's wirth 50 cents, you got for free and sell way too much and won't take a buck bc the tag fell off. Like why??? You ain't loosing any $$ on an item YOU got for free. Because of the greedy Richie Rich big wig bosses at Savers, I will never ever ever shop at ANY one of your stores again. Taking jobs a way with a stupid self check out is mean. And I dont wanna give my money...
