Considering all of the other 5 star reviews, it’s probably not necessary for me to add my 2 cents, but I was left with such a positive impression and pleasant experience that it’s worth reiterating again and again. John and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. Unlike the big box stores you might be used to, AV Therapy looks to build long term relationships with its customers. They realize that when it comes to buying things like pricey amplifiers, streamers, turntables and speakers, it might be a long term process. They’re happy to let people listen and evaluate at their own pace, and make a decision when they’re ready. John and his staff can and will make suggestions, but they’re also cognizant and responsive to understanding what their customers are looking for and framing their recommendations within that context. If you see something you like, they’ll even let you take it home to audition it to see how it will work in your setup, in your listening space.
The store is laid out like a three story house where all of the rooms are packed with various gear at varying price points. Listening rooms here look like rooms normal folks might be setting their equipment up in, with only minimal acoustic treatments, and that helps make evaluating things a more honest proposition than hearing speakers in some pristine room few of us can afford.
I probably visited this store 4 times over the course of 5 months before finally pulling the trigger. I mostly worked with John, but Nena was also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. After listening to numerous brands and models of floorstanding loudspeakers, I settled on a pair of Paradigm Founder 100Fs, and I couldn’t be happier. John even accepted my old towers as trade in and gave me fair value for them. Really, a top notch experience all around. They’ve won another customer for life here, and I will no doubt be spending more money with John and team in the future as I look to upgrade my...
Read moreOK so let me start off with me, Im 25 y/o bought and ordered more things than I probably ever should have but HAVE NEVER WRITTEN A REVIEW audio Therapy has made a first for me in the aspect of having such a great buying experience and getting unmatched help in finding audio equipment when I don't kno want that much to begin with. They actually took the time to listen to what I wanted, what I wasn't looking for, and my budget. And they have an endless amount of knowledge about anything audio. Once I explained a very rough idea of what I was looking for they got to showing me everything that matched with what I was saying and they were on point too. Never once did I feel like they were trying to push some big expensive equipment on me just to make a deal in fact they coached me on what I didn't need and what I should focus my money on. Everything they hooked me up with was definitely in my price range but the performance level of the equipment seemed to surpass what I spent ten fold. I got some insane equipment for a bargain compared to other places. Everything they carry is top knotch as well you won't find anything cheap or overpriced in there, if they carry it they carry for a reason. They have no problem demoing and letting you take your time as I did because I always take forever with finding the right equipment and they were patient and helpful the entire time. If you are searching for anything audio go there! And if you go next door to best buys magnolia room you soon are an idiot in...
Read moreJohn and the guys at AV therapy are all you could ask for as a consumer in the world of speakers and supporting equipment.
I had already purchased a complete home theatre setup from another retailer and it didn't take me long to get the upgrade itch again. I originally visited their store because they carried SVS subwoofers. Having disclosed that up front, they were still willing to setup multiple speaker configurations so I could hear different towers, centers, surrounds, and subwoofers on any combination of pre-amp/receiver/dedicated amp they had available in their many theatre rooms.
I discussed my current system and where I felt it came up short. Instead of pushing me into a costly whole system upgrade they suggested that I stick with my initial assessment of a subwoofer upgrade. They even let me take the SVS PB-2000 home to try out before I committed to a purchase.
Ultimately I demo'd 4 different subwoofers over the period of a month before I decided to purchase one. At no point in time did they pressure me into a purchase or become frustrated. These guys understand how subjective this hobby can be since they've been in this business a long time. They all have engineering background (electrical, sound recording, etc) and they're in this business because they're passionate about it. Very...
