Ok entertainment for the value. Just saw Oklahoma. It had less production value than some high school theater companies. The leads were great singers, but had absolutely no chemistry, which pretty much lost me right at the beginning. The acting was meh, and some was just bad. The dance numbers were fairly in step, but so slowly executed that they lost the exuberance that is expected of the musical. It was probably nerves, but most of the company seeemed very awkward up on stage. (Shout out to Ado Annie who was the breath of fresh air.)
I have fairly low expectations for local theater productions, and I think this may have just met it. I applaud the effort and hard work of all of the volunteers, and I think we should support local theater, so I will try to make an effort to go to a future production.
PS I did get a lot of joy out of the video montage they showed before the start of the production. That fun did not quite fully translate to the musical itself,...
Read moreMy wife and I (early 30s) attended a production here recently and were very impressed by the quality of the production. I've been to other community theatre's and sometimes the overall performance can be hit or miss. CCCT did a great job with good acting and a quality narrative. I'd highly recommend it as a date night activity.
A few comments for first time attendees. At the performance we attended, about half the audience took advantage of the BYOB option for wine and drinks. $3 corkage fee including a wine glasses is a nice perk. Also, regarding a recommended dress code, the majority of attendees I saw were in slacks or jeans with a polo or button down shirt. Snacks are also available for purchase at reasonable prices. I'd recommend getting there 10-15 minutes before the show to get through the box office line and get settled.
In conclusion, we had a great time and look forward to...
