Very pricey. And more than a few of the vendors are scammers. I bought some tomatoes, got them home and one had grocery tag on it. Another vendor selling pumpkins, I told him the price was high (nearly double what you would pay at store). And then I said to him, that's okay, bc I'm supporting a local farmer. He told me he isn't a farmer, he bought the pumpkins. And then there is the cheese guy in the cheese hat. He had so many different kinds of cheeses. Lots of variety, and he is very young. I asked him how he makes his cheese. He said "what?" and just stared at me. I said, you don't make this cheese? Where do you get it? You would think I asked him to explain a mathematical equation written by Einstein. He said nothing. I asked, are you buying and reselling this? He said "Huh?" I said are you simply a reseller of cheese? He finally said "yeah". And there was a lady selling soap. I was reading the labels for ingredients and said, "oh all the ingredients are the same in these". She said "pretty much". I'm like, no, not " pretty much, but yes exactly the same." So she started reading labels too. If she made them, shouldn't she know this? Its safer and cheaper to go to a health food store and buy certified organic food. Save $ for items the vendors are buying and upping price on, to nearly double. The cheese was nearly $8.00 but at store it is a little over $4.00. Another vendor selling gigantic radishes, during our conversation he told me the truck just arrived this morning. I asked "so you don't hrow these?". He said well that doesn't mean they don't cone from a farm. Also so many dogs, you can't get around them. I'm a dog person, take mine lots of places but it doesn't work for Farmer's market. Very cramped crowded aisles, no room for all the dogs. It should be a 'no dog zone. kettle corn guy is there most weeks, super nice and popcorn/kettle corn is good. The pasta guy has fresh bread every time. Its good! His spreads are good too. And he makes them, very knowledgeable about them. The grass-fed vendor has the best bourbon maple syrup you will ever taste in your life. A young boy with them told me the entire story about how it is made. Very impressive and worth trying! UPDATE: I just bought black bean and corn salsa from the Honey guy. It was clearly Old El Paso Salsa that he dumped in a jar. I'm so mad! I know that salsa anywhere, it has a very distinct taste, after 20 years of eating it, I know it. I have made homemade salsa numerous times and usually buy homemade salsa from the deli at Walmart. His salsa is NOT homemade. it was gross, Old El Paso. It cost me $10. I am just so sick and tired of everyone ripping people off these days. I am officially done with this place other than 3D meats which I find to be really tasty. The ppl who have the booth are also very, very nice (as I mentioned above in talking about their syrup.). Good honest people who are small family-owned REAL farmers. I'll support...
Read moreUpdate, now that summer is here, they open at 8. Best honey and veggies in town. You can get meat, eggs, and baked goods as well. But once 12 noon comes they close in the sidewalks, so get there early, if you arrive at 10 you may not get strawberries or cobbler. On the street lots of original arts and crafts. Make sure you go two weeks in a roll because some vendors only visit every other week. It's their way of distributing the wealth. Greater New Albany Development is in charge. With at least two coffee venders and plenty of baked goods, breakfast is a lock. Or try some barbecue for lunch. If you see something you want, snatch it now, because next week it may not be there. There were plenty of dogs on leashes attending and as per usual some activities...
