The words inviting, appetizing, and standout do not even begin to describe the experiences we encountered upon our arrival to Agave & Rye. My husband and I traveled to New Albany for a long weekend. When choosing our Air B & B we ultimately decided the one right next door to a Mexican restaurant sounded perfect. We had no idea what we were in store for. After our first meal, a crispy chicken burrito for my husband and a taco flight for myself, and sharing the chips and salsa, our taste buds were immediately impacted by the flavors. Everything was fresh and complimented the items served with it perfectly. The chicken burrito is served with a side of the most delicious dipping sauce. We immediately canceled all of our plans to visit other restaurants for lunch or dinner throughout our stay. We both were in agreement we would rather continue to enjoy the food and atmosphere around us, then venture out. We visited Agave & Rye six times on our long weekend; whether it was for lunch, dinner, drinks and appetizers. They never let us down. At the end of our week, we brought home take out to share with family and to enjoy on the six hour car ride home. After returning home, we tried the Agave & Rye in Perrysburg, Ohio, a two hour drive one way. It was delicious. However, it is miserable to not have an Agave & Rye close by. You can tell they really care about their customers and what they are serving them. We hope that by spreading our experience with friends and family, that someday an Agave & Rye will come to Mid Michigan. Recommendations from us are Strawberry Margarita on the rocks, frozen Strawberry Margarita, Little Red Corvette, chips and salsa, fries with trashy sauce, the Filthy Fajita, The Gansta, the Crispy Chicken Burrito with trashy sauce, and for dessert the churro chips and strawberry cheesecake dip. Read moreMy wife and I are celebrating our 13 year anniversary tomorrow, so we had a rare night out by ourselves. My wife has been several times, but this was my first time. I only took one picture as we don’t get many dinners to talk just the two of us, but 1 picture is worth thousand words. We started with the Chips and Queso and the Shrimp Rangoon Bites. Both were delicious and portioned perfectly for our liking. The Shrimp Rangoon Bites are a great infusion of seafood, meets you favorite Chinese Crab Rangoon, meets fried wontons. I can’t remember the drink my wife got, but it was very good and to quote her, “there’s more alcohol in there than I remember.” I think most people can agree that one of the more frustrating things about getting drinks anywhere that isn’t made at home is the discrepancy of alcohol you may or may not get while eating out. It was very well made. Then we got a flight which is 3 street tacos. From left to right… The Alderman, The Filthy Fajita (minus red peppers and added street corn), and The Rooster. The Alderman and Filthy Fajita are must tries and were top notch. The Rooster was really good, but I’ll give some constructive criticism/ideas to enhance the taco. It lacked on the Nashville Hot sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I know this is a very subjective issue and I’m not saying I want it overly sauces, but I do want a little more. As a person who loves sauces, I would’ve loved for this to have a dill sour cream drizzle or a dill ranch drizzle or something along those lines. Preferences aside, all 3 tacos were very good. My only regret, not trying the Strawberry Cheesecake Dip dessert. There are so many things I want to try next time. If you haven’t been yet, definitely worth a try or 3.
