I took my wife here for her birthday. Ambiance was nice, it was very busy. We arrived early for our reservations, not their fault but walk-ins waited less time to be seated. I felt we should've had preference but I didn't make a big deal about it. Long story short, my $50 dollar porterhouse was not made to temp. This was discovered a few bites in. After cutting near the bone my medium steak was raw. It seemed like it was cooked on the flat grill because there was no grill marks. Manager comes to the table and takes my steak, and brought me the same steak that i was eating back to the table. I questioned why would they do that,as that seemed to be unsanitary, and he said it's standard practice as the heat kills all the germs. I told him my steak was to be prepared beneath a well done temp so from general principal, any germs may still be present in the meat due to its medium temperature. My steak came back well done on half and medium near the bone suggesting to me the cook top didn't distribute heat very well. I usually don't send food back but for such and expensive porter house i felt I should. I probably would not go back since he convinced me this is truly their standard practice of taking already eaten food and putting it back on the grill. Even if it is safe, after the whole covid fiasco, why even give impression that your best practices are unsanitary. Also the steak was tough suggesting it was ice cold when cooked it and they didn't let it rest. Unfortunately my 1st time was my last time at this place. My wife loved the chocolate cake, the potato soup was tasty, and the Cesar salad was pretty good. Overall our server was very attentive. I get the feel of an over priced outback. I was disappointed that landry's put their name on this place as far as their cooking policy goes. Judging from the many locations i will make a conscious effort to select a better place. In my opinion Long Horn has not disappointed but I thought Salt Grass would have provided a higher quality which is why i chose to celebrate here, and this night the only thing that was high...
Read moreI brought my cousin to the Saltgrass in New Braunfels for her birthday and Valentines 2-14-2025, and I was treated horribly. My mom got us on the waitlist, which was about 1 and a half hours at 5:50 pm. I was receiving text messages from the hostess and decided to go inside when I was 10th on the list because I am a loyal Landry Select (LS) member and if they can they usually will seat LS members as fast as they can. When I greeted the hostess I gave her my name and she said she did not have a reservation in my name and I was not on the waitlist. I told her that was impossible because I was receiving text messages from them letting me know where I was in line. She and I looked at the waitlist and there was NO Sydnie on there but she had a Cindy in line at position 10. I told her maybe they misheard the name because my name is Sydnie and I showed her the text message from Saltgrass. This Asian hostess called me a liar and said I was trying to scam to get ahead of other people. At this point a white lady with blond hair took over the conversation and told me my name Sydnie was not on the list so there was nothing they could do. I went back to my car and about 5 minutes later I received a text from Saltgrass saying my table was ready. We went back in without incident but the treatment at this location was horrible and management should be ashamed. We came there to celebrate and the treatment really but a dark cloud over our evening. At the point that I showed the text messages that they were sending me about my position on the waitlist the conversation should have ended but the Asian hostess went on to call me a liar and scammer. Is this type of behavior acceptable at your restaurant???? To end on a positive note, I had already decided my server was not gonna receive a tip and I was gonna direct him to the hostesses for an explanation but he was so awesome that I had to leave him a nice tip. I pray he did not have to share it with the hostesses because they are awful and a horrendous representation of your business. Saltgrass New Braunfels...
Read moreUpdate 6 months later. Still no response. Here or the online address that they suggested. I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars, but unfortunately, I can't. Our party of four had several issues during our visit. Two of the meals were incorrect and did not match what was ordered, leaving a significant portion of the food uneaten. By the time we addressed the issue, it was too late to make any meaningful adjustments. The waitress apologized but only offered to send the sides to go, which wasn’t helpful, as we weren’t going to eat broccoli or onions hours later at home.
We had to ask another staff member to speak to a manager, as the waitress did not take any initiative. When the manager arrived, she repeatedly asked if there was anything else she could bring us, despite our stating that we were finished and didn’t want dessert. I requested that they remove the items we didn’t receive and offer a small discount for the incomplete meal. Unfortunately, the manager left and returned with the check, which had not been adjusted. Upon reviewing the bill after leaving, we noticed that none of the missing items had been removed, and the only change was a complimentary soda.
This experience left us feeling disappointed and dissatisfied, which affected how we enjoyed the meal. This was our first visit to a Saltgrass restaurant, and unfortunately, it did not meet the expectations we had. We felt misled and unappreciated as customers.
Update - I also did what they said and went to the website. Haven't heard a...
