As a professional, full-time, contemporary fine-artist, being represented by four galleries, and tackling the demands of creating new works for various exhibitions â currently, my work is on view at The Drawing Center Museum in Manhattan â it was an enduring treat to discover the new Blick Art Store on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. I went there on November 6th at around 4:00pm to buy some art supplies: a box of soft pastels, a light-box, and one painting tool. I came upstairs, stood by the sign indicating the start of the line, and waited as the cashier served two customers. I waited for thirty-minutes or so. While the cashier acknowledged me, he seemed unmoved by my patience. During this time, another customer came upstairs. He was served by a second cashier, who seemingly arrived at the same time as the second customer. At this point, in the face of obvious and shameless disrespect, I returned downstairs, placed the items back on their respective shelves, walked back upstairs, and proceeded to exit the store. To put icing on the cake, the cashier bid me farewell, saying âHave a nice day!â The cashier was a slim gentleman wearing glasses. This experience, my introduction to the new store, was exceedingly disappointing and endlessly frustrating, created by nothing more than a sheer lack of competence â...
Read moreI wouldnât recommend shopping online with Blick Art Materials, visit an online alternative for your art needs or just visit Blick Art Materials in person. Awesome store, friendly staff and great place to shop in person, but purchasing online with Blick Art Materials is not worth the hassleâŚespecially if you make a purchase online that doesnât work out.
I purchased twenty-five 5x7 canvases online but decided to go with 8x10 instead and returned my original purchase at their Brooklyn location. Their return process is a very slow drawn out process that takes weeks to complete, not customer friendly, and just not up to todayâs standards of quality and convenience. I was able to expedite my issue through email, but still wasnât refunded for shipping costs. I think if a customer honors the storeâs return policy they shouldnât be punished if an item...
Read moreRude employees. I went in the other day to look for airbrush supplies and was given snarky attitude. As a customer who has spent so much money on this company itâs disgraceful to be treated like youâre bothering people who are getting paid to provide customer service. The employee brought me to the location I was seeking, but it was the manner in which she said it. The old saying itâs not what you say but how you say it that comes to mind. Then I asked another female employee for something else and they reacted with rolling their eyes as if I was annoying them. Not sure what the hiring manager is doing, but quality control is low at this location. Instead, people should be grateful that they are employed somewhere when others are seeking jobs. The sense of entitlement is jarring. Hopefully, management sees this and has a talk with the staff about...
