I searched it all over for a black owned nail shop. Which is how I found therefore I was a walking so I expected to wait a while. An hour after waiting I was finally seen by Shakira who did it my feet. She did a good job but there's a lady named novelt next to me. The entire time she was next to me complaining about others using her things while doing another client's feet. And from my viewpoint where I'm sitting from that client over not polish properly. After I was finished with my feet I was pretty much ready to get sent out which is when I am applied and I still need to get my nails soaked off. Shakira sent me waiting while she went to Barry about getting someone for my nails to be done eventually he had Shakira to do my nails. I showed Shakira what I wanted and she said she couldn't do it then I asked her if she can do an ombre she said she can't do that either so she went to Barry again and Barry came out looked at my nail and said to wait a while again eventually the lady who controls the buzzer for the door was the nail tech that I was supposed to be going to I told her what I wanted which was a soak off and a design on my natural nail. She said there was enough time to do a soak off do note that I did walk in at 5:00 at this time it was after 8: 00pm. She said she would have to file the acrylic off and I insist that I don't want no filing to be done on such a hard surface and I would prefer to get a soak off. She went back to Barry and told Barry what I wanted so I end up waiting for a while and was later getting my nails soaked. The lady went to novelist and told her she was going to be finishing my nails. And while she was telling now that she's going to be doing my nails in the same sentence she was telling her that I was getting a pedicure so I had to stop her and tell her no I wasn't just getting a pedicure and showed her to design it I wanted and she said it a design and I wanted could only be done on acrylic and I remind you most of the designer that I had could be done in powder which have done before. Unfortunately that was in California. Eventually novely came over and I told her that I just wanted a clear coat and reshaping of my natural nail because I was already done with them. By the time I walked out I paid $30 for my feet and 45 for my nails. And if I'm not mistaken the menu said is $10 for soak off and $10 for reshaping which I believe is for acrylic nails but nevertheless we just give them that credit and for polishing it's another $10. I really was contemplating and giving them a second chance but that same night not even 5 hours later was literally 45 minutes driving from Barry to Long Island my...
Read moreSo pretty much I texted one of the mail techs there names Sophia and I asked her if I can come in as a walk in because I didn’t realize that I had to book online. I told her my graduation is the next day. She said okay 8:30 I text her and said can I come at 9 instead she didn’t answer my texts so I called after a while because I figured she was doing nails and it’s probably hard to text. She answered I repeated to her if I can come at 9 she then said yes . I reached Flatbush and martens around 8:54 parked my car and reach up stairs by 8:57. I’m guessing she didn’t realize I was there because at 9:56 she texted me where are you. When I got there she was doing someone nails and at this moment she wasn’t done yet so I told her I am here I been here since 9. She then texted come here. I went to her she then told me she had someone else’s that was before me her nails is long if I wanna go before her I have to get white acrylic so I was like huh how much is that she said $65 so I said I can’t afford that. She said the acrylic is faster so I asked if the gel is not fast she said no so I told her u can do hers before mines I’ll wait. 12:50am she was done with the lady she called me over to wash my hands and said you have to get acrylic I then told her I don’t have enough she then started walking around and picking up stuff so I found it as sign that she wasn’t gonna do my nails unless I got acrylic which isn’t what I came for I came for white gel polish . So I then left around 12:52 am after being there from 8:57pmworking all day and having a ore school son . I then just broke down in my car for 5 minutes because my graduation was the next day I’m so hurt and unhappy to the point where I don’t even wanna go when she called me over the first time she should’ve said I’m not gonna do it I could’ve catch a Chinese store like why make me wait so long for you...
Read moreI have to be honest. This is quite far from the best nail service that I have ever experienced. I haven’t had my nails done in quite some time because I found it to be difficult to find nail artists that are really good at what they do. However, I saw the work of the nail artists at Barry’s (on IG) and I was impressed. I even paid in advance ($145). That’s how much confidence I had in my future service. I was also thrilled to support a black owned business. Nevertheless, I left disappointed. My services were scheduled two hours apart 2pm and 4pm. I received a text that my appointment would be 45 minutes behind. I expected to be leaving there around 7 or 8 the latest. I was out by 5:30! Now I’m sure that sounds like good news but no it was not. I’m pretty much a “plain Jane” when it comes to my nails but believe it or not it is a mission to find people that can slay the nude natural look. I call it the “old money” look. Nice, neat, and clean. Not sure how to describe what I have. It’s not the shade that I was going for and my nails are not neat at all. I have OCD so you can imagine how irritating it was to have acrylic and clue stuck on your fingers. I’ve had to correct my pedicure when I got home because my feet were not smooth at all. Unfortunately, I don’t feel as though my money was well spent. That pedicure chair in the corner should probably be replaced. Honey, it felt like a hard rod was poking my butt cheek the entire time. Man, I just want a permanent nail tech that cares about the work that they put out into the world. Yesterday could have been a bad day… I don’t know. I chosen my nail tech after seeing what he could do on IG. I really liked Dior’s personality but the job that I paid for truly did...
