I visited this place many times, I went there with my family; we liked sauna because it was pretty clean comparing to other places and waiters/people who still work there are nice and know me well. Yesterday, I had a "fight" with the owner/manager of the place. I asked him if (my mom and I) can change a table because we were sitting in front of the door that opened and closed for about an hour (the weather outside was -14 degree cold) and my feet were cold in seconds after I came out of hot sauna. So, the manager (a bit overweighted guy, who wears a different from his coworkers T-shirt) told me that they have a table for two, then I told him:" I forgot to mention, my sister will come soon, can we get a table for three? It would be just great!" The manager did not want to deal with us. He turned to the guy who was passing clean towels and whispered a bad word in Russian and turned his face to us making his face like "what the f**k you want". I told him that we just asked if we can change a table and can you say no or we don't have any tables as of right now. The guy with the towels interfered, using rude words like "you don't like something?", I told him that I did not use any bad words, if you start talking that way-I can do it too, but that's not a solution, and then he said "Don't threaten me! Are you threatening me?" , I did not mean to say "i can use bad words too" in a way to threaten I meant to be rude. The manager told us that we have to leave the place and that he gives us a refund. The guy who gives towels and the manager were too rude and talked in aggressive way. I could wait if they would only tell me something like "it will take 10 minutes or an hour to get a table for three, is it ok with you?". I would be definitely positive about it. Customer service is supposed to be number one in business but not for the manager of the place. If I was a man, they would not talk to me that way, It's too low for men to talk to a lady that way whoever they are either managers/owners/God or a person who owns the planet Earth.
I payed $18 for tea we ordered and left $5 cash for a waiter, but manager threw $5 on the side where I was standing and said: "You can take your $5", I told him: "you did not take care of our table so that's not for you", he said that none of the workers need my pitiful five dollars. At that moment, I felt so bad for the manager, who probably has so many psychological issues (and it's ok) but not expressing them the way he talked to me. He made me cry that day, I won't come to that place again. My star won't make any sense but, people, If you want to make the world a better place, do not visit the places like that( it's just my subjective opinion).
Thanks for reading such a long...
Read moreRead morewhere Russian and Ukrainian chatter wraps around you like the steam—warm, communal, and slightly intimidating if you don’t know what’s going on. But instead of feeling like an outsider, you just feel lucky to be in on it. Everyone—staff and visitors alike—were incredibly kind, with locals even offering tips to help us up our sauna game. Sauna hats are the official uniform (& u can buy one there $40). One OG, a true pro, carried his own sand timer around like a badge of honor. The OGs run things, pouring water on the stove with full authority - but only after checking with the group, like sauna royalty. The respect here is real. The oak branch slapping? They go all in, but nothing gets more attention than their own rear ends—whack, whack, whack—like they’re competing for the hardest smack and the greatest volume of sweat, probably in liters. Gloves are the pro move, not just for splinters from the oak branches but for surviving the sheer dedication. Chains and bracelets stayed on for the OGs even in the 245-degree roast, burn marks and all, just proving how tough they are. There were 2 saunas and 1 steam room in the coed area, all very hot, but nothing compared to the massive men’s locker room sauna—a true furnace with plywood mats to sit on and temperatures that would humble the devil. All saunas were stamped with their birth date, mostly 1980. Locker room dining was an unexpected highlight. Salted n perfectly toasted croutons are the freebie snack given but we ordered buttery potatoes, herring with spicy mustard, beers, a traditional Russian na root beer that’s not sweet (total $65)and sat on plastic outdoor patio chairs while watching Siberian hockey on one screen and a snake nature documentary on another. The coed zone near the pool for parties 2 has fake blue sky lights above it - artificially shining and brightening the happy mood of sauna goers of all ages eating, drinking, and intermingling like one big sauna family. No cold plunge but a classic shower pull-cord cold water dump of 5 gallons is what you need between rounds of face-melting heat. Large coed pool was a nice ambient temperature, perfect for a few laps to stretch it out. One h20 fountain at entrance to locker rooms. For a bit pricey of $70, 9/10 on the...
Been coming here as a kid with my father and brother. The food is always on point. The vodka is always cold.
For everyone complaining about the staff being “rude”, I never experienced any rudeness even on the busiest night. It’s not easy managing everything going on, keeping the place clean, and making sure the drunk folk don’t bother anyone.
The place always looked and smelled clean when I was there. One of the waiters, and young guy with long hair in a ponytail was super helpful, informative, and quick to tend to our requests.
Last time I was there I had a great time. It was crowded and the staff was overwhelmed but that didn’t stop them from accommodating us and getting us a table.
Had a nice table full of food and cold vodka. The only draw back was the water from the pool kept splashing by the table when people would dive in, and we had to protect the table from getting pool water on the food.
I saw a good diverse crowd of people, not only Russian speaking, the staff can be curt or short, but not rude. I think some people just don’t understand Russians lol.
Best to order is the “suhariki” or croutons, the salty fish, salo fatback, steamed potatoes, soups always on point, and ice cold vodka.
You do get some unsavory characters but that’s infrequent, and most of the people are very friendly. Great place to make business connections of all kinds. Hope the feds dont wire the place, but you never know.
Overall the place is 5 stars +, kudos to the staff keeping it running smooth and clean like a well oiled machine.
Definitely not happy about the $65 admissions price, but it’s one of the best places I’ve been to, and it’s a family tradition to...
