We’ve been loyal patrons of The Perfect Pint in Midtown East for some time, which led us to try their Midtown West location. On this occasion, the three of us arrived just after 6 PM for beers and fries, ordering a total of 15 or 16 beers. When the bill arrived, the waitress presented us with a charge for 21 beers. The receipt was not itemized, and when we requested a detailed breakdown, she falsely claimed we ordered more, including asserting that I had two Delirium Tremens when I only ordered one (evidence of this is in the attached video and photos l). Her response escalated to threats when we pressed for clarification.
We simply wanted an accurate, itemized account of our order, not fabricated charges.
The manager, Ernesto, intervened but only compounded the issue. He first falsely stated we had been there since 3 PM, which we corrected, then insisted that a typical person consumes two beers per hour, a baseless assertion that didn’t align with our consumption. He then again refused to provide an itemized receipt, claiming that it is too much work to keep track of what beers everyone drinks(an illegal practice)
We captured this exchange on video - see the attached footage, along with photos and our bill.
Ultimately, to avoid further confrontation, we paid the inflated total, which added approximately $20 per person to our bill, but it left us deeply unsettled. This was not a simple mistake - it felt like deliberate overcharging, supported by lies and intimidation.
We will be uploading additional video evidence showing the waitress’s condescending and potentially racist demeanor, as well as her conversation with the manager, both of whom seemed complicit in this practice. We intend to dispute the charge with our credit card companies and urge others to approach this location with caution.
The Perfect Pint in Midtown West appears to engage in deceptive and possibly criminal practices, preying on customers who trust they’ll be billed fairly. Save yourself the trouble and...
Read moreTo make long story short, — I will not come back.
And there are some details:
The food was rather good but not quite great. E.g., although my shepherd’s pie tasted fairly good; and the size and price were decent; it has about 1/4 inch thick layer of ground beef on one side it has over 3/4 inch layer on the other side. And I do understand that the part of the authenticity would be not to care too much, but it is an example of too much not caring too much.
The waiter appeared to be a bit irritated with us, which, again, to a certain extent could be a part of the authenticity but it really should be at lesser extent. Actually my mother in law even asked me — what did we do wrong to irritate him so much?
To start with, when the waiter appeared first time he asked are we ready or do we need a minute? And I said yes, we need another minute. He literally cam back in a minute. So I said we still need another one. And he returned literally in a minute. And then again. It was not a pleasant experience. And it reflected pretty much all our other interactions.
But the thing that made me really upset was different, — the beer list simply stated “Kilkenny” with no addition details (which is already not a very good sign), so that, to be sure, I’ve asked the waiter, is the Kilkenny the Irish red? And after I got a confirmation I’ve ordered it. Of course it was Kilkenny Cream Ale, — so much lighter beer that it is virtually tasteless comparing with the red one.
And on top of that they automatically added 20% gravity. If course they would, because with a service that bad nobody would have them 20%. And of course they surcharge the card payments. And nobody even warned me about it.
Combined all it together, the price by far exceeded the experience.
And it probably would not surprise you if I say that nobody cared to ask us, — how was it? I would speculate that they simply do not care.
PS. The beer list was very limited, — it was pretty short and contains only very...
Read moreThis was our last night in New York and had been enjoying this location on 45th several times every day for food and drinks with friends while we where visiting New York from Newfoundland. From the guy (host) at the door who welcomed us and made my wife the best Moscow mule and all the waitresses we thank you, great service and food. We would have given this establishment 1 star based on the experience we had last night, by the rude bartender on duty treated my wife and I like we were bothering him. For our second round of drinks, we ordered an Irish red ale and a Moscow mule with Tito’s vodka and he gave us some drink with mint leaves. My wife started picking the mint leaves out of the drink & I said we hadn’t asked for a mojito. He then snatched the drink back and told us it WAS a Moscow mule. He then gave my wife back a drink (which neither my wife or I seen him make a new drink) he just gave my wife a 3/4 full glass of drink minus the mint leaves and didn’t ever give me my beer which he had already half poured. After about 15 minutes of being ignored, I had to ask another bartender who was cleaning up around the bar for my beer, which he finished pouring and handed to me. The rude bartender didn’t acknowledge us after that. I was not Interested in getting into an argument, so I asked for my bill, paid it and left. So we went to another pub, met our friends and had a good time elsewhere. Very disappointed to have had this happened after having throughly enjoyed this...
