First and foremost, I have to comment on the staff. If it were not for the professionalism, inviting nature and overall kindness of the staff, I would rate differently. I can not express enough how grateful I am of them. My stay was 12 nights. I traveled from Seattle to NYC for surgery. I had 5 day hospital stay and after my return to the hotel I was needing crutches to walk. The staff was very attentive and always willing to go out of their way to assist with any and all of my needs. From opening the main entrance door to rushing to the elevator to push buttons for me. They were always willing to arrange other services for me to make my stay more enjoyable. I do have to rate some "issues" with the room, which I hold corporate accountable. I chose the one bedroom suite for my extended stay. I figured use of the full kitchen would be advantageous for saving a little on eating out for every meal and the in-unit washer/dryer was also a great add-on HVAC system - the units are dated and should be replaced. The maintenance person was very informative and helpful on trying to remedy the loud noises it made, but there was only so much he was able to do. It was a whole building problem. Washer/dryer - These were great units made by Bosch. Washer did fine, dryer, not so much. It would take roughly 5 or 6 hours of restarting the dryer to actually dry your clothes Brown water - this was a random occurrence that lasted for about an hour or so. Was coming from every water source. Room landline - Funny issue with this one. The room phones are cordless. There was a mix up with our phone and another room's phone. Maintenance tried to remedy, but we were constantly getting calls meant for another room. Overall experience result, I would stay here again. Customer service rating for me is weighted heavily because of my career field. I hold myself to high standards and even on my worst of days, I never let that affect my responsibilities while on the job. Thank you...
Read moreI visit Manhattan at least twice a year for pleasure. Each stay is two weeks, more or less. I have stayed at AKA Times Square for each of my visits for the past 5-6 years. I have always been more than satisfied with my experiences there.||The rooms are fully self-contained apartments. They are clean and spacious and well-appointed. The location is absolutely perfect as far as I'm concerned. It is walking distance to everything in Midtown, and it is, at most, a two block walk to every subway line that runs through Manhattan. That means you are never more than 20-25 minutes from anywhere you might want to be in Manhattan, from The Battery to The Met Cloisters.||The real gem of the place is the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. They are always ready to step up with whatever it takes to make your stay perfect. I have stayed there enough to know that the staff turnover is very low, and the folks on staff really seem to enjoy being there. ||The last thing that I will mention is security, which is understandably a concern for many people. Even though the hotel is located a mere 1/2 block from Times Square, you will feel very safe and secure. There is always a person on duty at the front door and another person on duty at the front desk. The lobby is very small, so anyone entering the building must walk past them both. They know everybody who is a registered guest at any given time. No one who is not a registered guest is going to get past them unless they are being escorted by a registered guest. If you are unnerved by the chaos of Times Square, you will find this to be a...
Read moreWe had an outstanding 7 night stay in New York in February 2017 and the AKA Times Square (which a friend recommended) was without doubt a contributor to that experience. The staff were fantastic. The location was great and the accommodation (deluxe studio with study) was exceeded our expectations. We prefer staying in apartment style hotels as they better suit our needs. Our rooms were located on the 10th floor facing onto 44th Street and I must say that we immediately felt right at home. The rooms were generous for a studio and the extra study room was a bonus. We had a relative stay with us and were able to put them up very comfortably in the study. The kitchen was great complete with large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave etc. There is a new flagship Wholefoods complex just around the corner opposite Bryant Park we got to dine in as well as out. The king size bed was probably one of the best I have slept on. The bathroom was generous. There were plenty of cupboards and drawers etc to put away our clothes and store our luggage (and shopping!) etc. There was a clothes washing machine and dryer in one of the cupboards - a great convenience. There is a guest lounge on the top floor as well as an outdoor roof deck area and also a small but comprehensive gym which one of my kids used frequently and got a good workout. The location is great and we could get to just about anywhere via the various subway lines that are well located nearby the hotel. The staff are all super friendly and most helpful. I look forward to coming back here again when I next stay...
